These pictures and movies will be shown on his program “Farßu and farming." Winners of the Co-op Kekionga pig guessing' contest in the commercial tent have been announced. The litter weight was 668 pounds. Mrs. Bon Gerke was the winner of the contest and won a Londroa gilt Next in line was Elmer J. lack, who received 50 pounds of Vlgor-ettes; Otis Buckey was awarded 50 pounds of Porkmekpr, Raymond Edwards was fourth with a prise of 25 pounds of pig starter milk, Lloyd Knittie came in fifth winning 50 pounds of Creep-pttes,. and Kenneth Watkins won 50 pounds of Fnro-attes. Among the visitors at the fair 1 were Bertha Drew, former home demonstration agent, and L. E." Archbold, former county agent. The report waa that they enjoyed their visit very much. Applications were taken during the fair for the Junior loader overnight. This overnight outing will be held August 18 and 19 at < Lake McClure near Sliver Lake. | The cost of the one-night trip is < only $1.50 and many junior lead- j ets took advantage of the fact i 4-H camp applications were also , taken during the fair. 4-H camp , is to be held August .19, 20, 21, ( and 22 at Lake McClure. Another point worthy of mention is the fact that Ray has peddled, driven and ridden these 42 years without a single accident. Smith and his wife, who reside on route 6. are the parents of Clarence (John) Smith-, who Is a clerk'St the local post office, Lawrence (Pete) Smith, who works with the county surveyor, and Mrs. Austin Merriman, who is the wife of a Democratic precinct committeeman. Prior to his career at the post office, Ray taught school for seven years in a one room school house in Washington township. Although he completed only the eighth grade, he attended two summer courses at Marion Normal college, & began ■ teaqhlng at the age of 17. He taught all required "subjects (o all eight different grades. He recal.’s that one of his students was even oldet than himself. Other rural carriers who have been at the local post office since i its dedication in 1931 are Hubert Zerkel, who began October 8. 1917, and Charles W. Maloney, who began May 9. 1921. Washington’s Henry P. Carstensen is the latest state leader to throw his lot in with Harriman. He said he would vote for Harriman as soon as he was released by favorite son Warren G. Magnuson. Harriman backers are also claiming gains in the Wisconsin delegation.
