Merry Maids The Monmouth Merry Maids 4-H club held their last meeting July 19 at the high school. The meeting was railed to order by the president, Join Fleming. The pledges were led by Judy Selklng and Carol Ann DeVine. The roll call was answered by ‘‘my favorite sport."

Operation Alert To Be Concluded Today Eisenhower Calls Cabinet Session WASHINGTON (UP) — President Eisenhower called a special cabinet meeting this afternoon to conclude Operation Alert, the alxday nationwide civil defense test. The President summoned to the White House in addition to cabinet officers the heads of other agencies taking part in the operation. Mr. Eisenhower took part in the first stapes of the test last Friday by calling a national security council meeting to deal with the mock nuclear attack on the nation. . ” Ha also issued a series of mock emergency orders before leaving for the< conference of American presidents at Panama. Other top government officials and thousands of government workers evacuated the capital and established emergency headquarters at secret sites. The final phase of Operation Alert concentrated on dealing with such theoretical problems as radioactive fallout, displaced persons and restoration of the nation’s economy. Probe Explosion At Food Company Plant Believe Blast Set Off By Dynamite WINDFALL. Ind. (UP) — Police today investigated an explosion believed to have bee n set off with, dynamite at the Regal Food Co. plant late Tuesday night. Girl Rescued From Well By Policeman Four-Year-Old Girl Is Rescued Tuesday RICHMOND, Ind. (UP) — A frightened little girl huddled in the watery depth of a well into which she plunged while playing Tuecdny until rescued by a husky policeman . Patrolman Larry Harris, who stands 6 feet 6 inches and scales’ 230 pounds, was lowered into the 18-inch square opening and tied a clothesline around four-year-bld Jacqueline Rader.
