MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER GIVEN RECENTLY A miscellaneous blrdal shower was given recently at the home of Mrs. Leon Rosswurm In Fort ■Wayne, honoring Miss Catherine Sarrazine, who will become the bride of Donald Miller, July 28. Mrs. Elmo Miller assisted the hostess. Upon her arrival, the honored guest was presented with a cosage of summer flowers centered with pink gladioli. of the Tri Kappa sorority which was held Tuesday evening at the Youth and Community Center. The sorority decfcfed to hold business meetings every month and social meetings every other month.. Mrs. Simon Heemstra took orders for name labels and announced that the first order will be sent in this week. Mrs. Guy Koos, unable to attend. sent a report on the number of children who will receive financial assistance tor debta/ work. The next meeting of the sorority will he a picnic Tuesday, August 21. The newly initiated members will be hostesses and the time and jP’ace will be announced at a later date. MRS. H. R. FREY ATTENDS SORORITY CONVENTION Mrs. H. R. Frey has returned from French Lick where she attended the 49th national convention ofthe Delta Theta Tan sorority Inc., I meeting at the French Lick hotel July 11 to 14. Approximately 500 members attended. Reports were given on fotal' sums spent on philanthropic purposes throughout the year. The as-' sociation voted -to give the five scholarships of SI,OOO each to the Pilot Guide Dog foundation. The 1957 convention will, be held in Long Beach. Calif., July 10 to 13. PARTY HELD FOR BOBBY SPENCER A party was held recently for Bobby Spencer in honor of his eighth birthday. Bobby received many gifts and games were played during the afternoon. MERRY MATRONS HOLD MEETING RECENTLY The Merry Matrons home demonstration club met fficently at th3 home of Mrs. W The meeting was opened with group singing led by Mrs. Dejmer Thieme. Devotions were read by Mrs. Norviri Thieme. The lesson on “Civil Defense," was persented by’ Mrs. Louis Krueckeberg and Mrs. Louis Sheets. They explained to the member what to do if disaster should strike. The safety lesson was given by Mrs. Otto Boerger. The secretary. Mrs. Arthur Krueckeberg, read the county constitution to the members. . Games were played during the social period, with Mrs. Norvin Thieme in charge. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Norvin Thieme. Guests present were Mrs. Charles Thieme, Mrs. Lorenz Thieme and Mrs. Eugene Schiemmer. The next meeting will be held September 18. July 29. the club willJiave their family picnic at the Monroeville park. All members and their families are invited to attend. The Bethany circle of the Zion E. a»d R. church will hold a potluck supper Wednesday evening at 6 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Edpar Gerber. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table service, x Mrs. Lawrence Rash will be hostess to the Eta Tau Sigma sorority Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Adams county rural youth will spend Sunday at Pokagon state park for their annual one day outing. All members are asked to bring" food and their table servie for the picnic dinner. The group will leave the county extension office at 8 jP m. Sunday morning. All county mral youthers are invited to attend.

The Builders class of the Trinity E.U.B. church sponsored an excursion to Lakewood Sunday. Lakewood is a lakesite near South Milford being developed for church campers of the E.U.B. conference north. Ninety members of the Trinity church enjoyed a basket dinner, after which boating and swimming were enjoyed.
