Cards Defeat Monmouth In Pony League The Decatur Cardipals defeated Monmouth, 9-6, in an Adams county Pony League game Wednesday evening. The. Cardinals shored twice in the first inning And Monmouth tailed single in thfe first and fifth innings th tie the score. The Cardinals then bunched six hits with a walk for five runs in the sixth and added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh. Monmouth rallied in the final inning for four runs on two walks and a pair of triples but Corah fanned the next two batters. Berne is scheruled to play at Adams Central in a Piny League game Friday evening. Saturday night, the Decatur Cardinals and Braves will tangle at Worthman field following a Little League game at 6:15 p.m. between the White Sox and Senators. Junior Legion Ties And Wins In Twin Bill The Decatur Junior American Legion team, playing a double header at Worthman field Wednesday night, gianed a 4-4 tie with Monmouth and then defeated ,GrabiH, 7*2. The opener was celled after five innings despite the tie score under an agreement on a time limit. Monmouth took a 4-0 lead in the second inning on three hits, two walks, a hit bastman and an error. Deca tar came back with two in the same inning on two hits and a stolen base, and tied the score with two in the third on three hits, a walk and an error. Neither team could score In the final two innings. Decatur scored all the runs it needed with three in the first inning of the nightcap, counting on July one hit, aided by an error, a fielder's choice and a stolen base. The locals counted once in the fifth and put the game on ice with three in the sixth on four hits. Grabill scored both its run on a walk, hit an error in the fourth. Decatur Little League teams will launch an intensive schedule this evening, when the White Sox and Tigers play at the Homestead diamond, which officials report has dried out sufficiently to play today. The regular double header will be played at Worthman field Friday evening, with the Red Sox and Senators playing the opener, followed by the Tigers and Yankees. Another twin bill will be played at Worthman Saturday afternoon, with the Yankees and Red Sox playing at 1 o’clock, followed by the Indians and Tigers at 2:30. Rounding out the week, the White Sox meet the Senators at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Cardinals and Braves in a Pony League contest. —
