HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB HOLDS MEETING RECENTLY "Civil Defenae" was the lesson presented by the leaders. Mrs. Harold Owens and Mrs. Richard HSrkless. at the June meeting of the «oot township home demonstration club held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Richard Harkless in Monmouth. A very Interesting and informative discussion was then led oa this subject. The president, Mrs. Mary Jane ■Runyon, led the group in repeating the club creed. Th* history of the song of the month was given by Mrs. Lee Fleming, after which she led the group in singing “I Want a Girl.” Roll was called by Mrs. Nevig Miller and plans weae made for the 4-H fair. The county-planned trip to the Smokies was announced. The meeting was closed with the club collect. KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB HOLDS MEETING TUESDAY A meeting of the Kirkland ladies club was held Tneaday evening at the Adams Central School. Mrs. Walter Conrad conducted the business meeting in the absence of the president. Mrs. John Lbyse led the sroup tn Singing thlt of the month. , The lesson, entitled “Now Fabrics.” was presented by Mrs. Joe Zimmerman. Devotions were given by Mrs. Thomas Griffith. An interesting safety lesson was presented by the dub's safety leader. Mrs. Ed Arnold- The July meeting will be held July 24, instead of July 31, as previously scheduled.

During the past year she has been a teacher in the Portland, Ore., dchool system. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lower of Yonkers. N. Y. are visiting relatives in Decatur this week. Both are former Decatur residents. Mr. and Mrs. D. Hoyt Callow and family left today for San Antonio. Texas, to attend the convention of the Lutheran laymen’s league. Callow is district chairman of the Lutheran Hour for northern Indiana. Ed Heimann Named Jefferson Principal Edward Heimann, of near Decatur, has been named principal of the Jefferson township grade school, according to an announcement by Hugh David Mosser. township trustee.
