Decatur Little League Will Open 1956 Season Next Tuesday Evening

The Decatur Little League will open the 1956 season with a double header at Worthman field Tuesday night. The league will operate again this season with six teams, and will utilise both Worthman field and the Homestead diamond. Double headers will be played at Worthman Tuesday and Friday nights, and some games will also be played on Saturday nights. Single games will be-' played at the Homestead on Thursday evenings. To avoid confusion for players and spectators, league officials announced today that the second named team in the schedule each day will be the home team, batting last and using the third base bench for all home teams. The schedule follows (Worthman field unless otherwise designated): i June 5- Red Sox vs Yankees; In- _ dians vs Senators. June 7—(Homestead) — Tigers vs White Sox. * June B—Senators8 —Senators vs Red Sox; * Yankees vs Tigers. June 12— White Sox vs Indians; Senators vs Tigers. June 14—(Homestead) —<Red Sox vs Indians. Junior Legion Team To Open Season Monday Tta Decatur Junior American Legion baseball team will open its 1956 season Monday afternoon, meeting the Bluffton legion team at 5 ottobk at Worthman field to ~t 'V*■ ■•- ■’£ r r The local team was scheduled to open its season Friday at Monmouth, but wet grounds prevented the lid lift •. The Decatur team is a member of the southern division of fourth district league of American Legidn baseball. A. tourney will be held either July 19 or 26 to name the division winner.
