Bluffton, where he had been a patient for the past month. He had previously been confined to the Adams county memorial hospital for six months. He was born in Wells county Aug. 14, 1886, and resided in the Linn Grove area most of his life. His wife preceded him in death in 1918. ■ Mr. Heller was a member of the Linn Grove Christian Congregational church. are three sons, Merland Heller of Fort Wayne, Hugh Heller of Hammond and Trut»an Heller of Berne; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Yager funeral home in Berne, the Rev. A. 'E. Givens officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery at Linn Grove. 221 Are Enrolled At Bible School The enrollment of the vacation Bible school at sion Lutheran church. West >|onroe and Eleventh streets, numbered 221 Wednesday morning. The report was given by Mrs. Reinhold Sauer, general secretary of the school. The nursery and beginner departments each had an enrollment of 45 children, the primary 35,. the junior 28, and senior, 37. The number of officers and teachers totals 41. The Rev. Edgar P. Shmidt, pastor of the church, serves as chaplain and general superintendent, while the following are department leaders: Mrs. D. Hoyt Callow, Mrs. Louis Jacobs, Mrs. Norman Kruse, Mrs. William Justice, and Paul Schmidt Friends of the children are offering the children and helpers daily refreshments, served by Mrs. Edgar Schmidt, hostess. Children may still enroll in any of the departments. Murphy Celebrates 50th Anniversary The < G. C. Murphy Co., which has a * store in Decatur, Is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding this year, and one of the features of the observance is an anniversary sale, which opens Friday. The company was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1906. and has grown to a chain of 303 stores in 13 states and the District Os Columbia. At the present time, 34 new scores are in the planning Stage or under construction. ■ . Two Autos Damaged In Wreck Wednesday • Two autos were damaged in an accident at the intersection of St. Mary s and Walnut streets Wednesday at 11:05 a. m. Eugene Vetter, 21, of Decatur, was going east on St. Mary’s ctreet and Gerald Gatshall. 17. also of Decatur, was going north on Walnut street. Both approached the intersection at the same time and a driving rain obscured their vision. Damage was estimated at 8200 to the Vetter car and 3300 to the other vehicle. Francis Simmons. 47, of Fort Wayne, will appear in justice of the peace court Saturday to answer a charge of fishing without a license. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon by conservation officer Jack Hurst while he was fishing in St Mary’s river near the Adams-Allen county line.
Set Summer Hours For Youth Center Plan Activities Os Summer Season At the regular monthly meeting ts the recreation commission at the Youth and Community Center Tuesday the hours for the summer program were set. Beginning Saturday, the Center will be open Tuesday through Saturday froin 1 p. m. until 10 p. m., Sunday hours will be from 2 p. m. until 5 p. m. and the Center will be closed on Mondays. The Monday closing was thought to be a better idea than closing the Center completely for a period of about two weeks so that the necessary painting, floor sealing and refinishing yan be done. A building that has as much traffic as the Center has experienced during the past year requires a lot of work to keep it condiition/tfSd Monday was decided on as the day when the smallest number of people would be affected. This schedule will go into effect at once. At the regular meeting of the teen council Monday night a schedule of teen dances was set up. The first summer hop will be held Tuesday, June 12, the second will be Friday, June 22, and the next of the series will be Tuesday, July 3. The teen council is working on plans for the summer and will have the complete program ready to announce in a short time. The teen council will play host to the state, youth recreation executive committee Saturday, June 9. This meeting will bring to Decatur a number of young people and their advisors from all parts of the state of Indiana. Dewayne Agler is vice-president of the state youth recreation council. Mrs. Rice Suffers Broken Hip In Fall Mrs. Jess Rice, of 313 Madison street, fell on the stairway of her home Wednesday afternoon and suffered a broken hip in the fall. She lay helpless for almost an hour before some visitors to >a neighbor heard her call for help. She is a patient at the Adams county memorial hospital. ' Also treated at the Hospital as a result of a Memorial Day accident was Donald Wedler, 13-year-old son of Fiend Weidler of Bluffton route four. Donald sustained an injury to his right index finger when it was caught in a power ilawn mower Wednesday morning. The finger was mangled but did not have to be amputated. Henry Mayo, extension animal husbah4rynuLn, demonstrated the proper rneflrodH and equipment for sheep shearing. Several 4-H members had an opportunity to practice shearing.
