Radiation Neurosis Gripping Japanese Continue Claims Os U. S. Nuclear Blast TOKYO (INS) — Millions of Japanese were reported gripped today by what newspapers are calling “radiation neurosis” in the ' wake of Japanese claims that the United States unleashed another nuclear test blast of major pro- . portions t inthe Mid-.Pafrif Mom day? Despite lack of official confiri mation in Washington, scientists of the Tokyo central meteorological observatory said they were “virtually. .certain” that a third nuclear blast was touched off in current tests at Bikini atoll. The scientists said atmospheric pressure' waves indicated the purported blast was “about the same size” as the hydrogen bomb airdropped over Bikini May 21. Reaction among. Japanese was immediate. In Osaka, clothing reported a sudden boom in the sale of raincoats which are recommended for protection against radioactive particles in rain. One wholesaler reported that he sold out a stock of 490,000 coat*. On Awaji island, off the Honshu coast, a school boy was reported suffering from a mysterious discoloration of the skin on his hands. Local health officials reported receilvng thousands of telephone calls about the case and quieted fears by announcing that the boy’s ailment had nothing to do with radiation. GEN. TWINING (Conllnnrd from Pace One) 1959 or 196 CL ' Defense secretary Charles E. Wilson contends that the U. S. has, and is maintaining, air supremacy. Although the defense department was hopeful that possibly other members of the joint chiefs would be invited to the Moscow air demonstration, experts can accompany the air force chief. Since Twining was asked to head a delegation, the other members need only be of slightly lesser rank. Potter had suggested that if all of the joint chiefs were invited, they should report to an informal meeting of the entire congress. Trade in a Good Town — Decatm
