Every year! during the month; of May a signifi-l cant and moat! beautiful event takes place, in St. Mary’s Catholic church. On a designated night, special homage is paid to our Heavenly

A procession beginning at 7:30 p.m. opens the ceremony, in which the. statue of the Blessed Virgin, .borne on the shoulders of four senior boys, is carried around the church. The litany of the stains is sung by the entire high school, with the seniors leading and the regt of the high school singing the responses. This year, the four officers of the student spiritual council have been chosen to take part in the crowning of Mary. Paul Faurote, prefect, will crown the Blessed Virgin and the three other officers, Dave Heimann, Margie York and Janice Titus will serve as Paul’s attendants. — D. C. H. SL — The senior girls were given an opportunity to see the actual proceedings of a meeting of the Rosary sdciety, Monday night. After the business part of the meeting was completed, Mrs. Reid Erekson,

presented a very exciting play in which she portrayed all of the characters. A cake walk followed and refreshments were then served. The senior girls wish to thank the Rosary society for a pleasant evening. — b. C. H. S. — “Round (hat corner takes a little peek, back to the center and [ swing your feet.” Lines like this | one echoed through the dancing I hall at Sunset, Tuesday afternoon. ! Happy faces and gay laughter were evidence enough that all the high school students were having a wonderful time at their annual school picnic. Both square and round dancing were provided so as to satisfy each person's choice of music. Os course, it isn’t a picnic without food and each class took care of its own food supply. Delicious aromgs of outdoor cooking proved antagonizing to the picnlcers-and the students saw to it that these hunger pains were quite satisfied before the dancing began. - D. C. H. S. ’— The members of the student spiritual council will meet in a body Sunday at the 7:30 mass. I This is the last time until the next school term gets underway in the fall. — D. C. H. S. — Now it is only a matter of time!. A week from tomorrow the seniors will be graduates with twelve full years as standing evidence of this fact. They’ll be on the threshhoid I of a new adventure and full of con-
fidence to journey down this new path because of the fine education they were given during these past twelve years. *1 —D.C.H. S. — A whirl of excitement is being planned for the "56” senior graduates for the night of June 1. Through the kind help of the four sororities of Decatur, Roy Kalver, and the Lion's club, the evening (or should we say “morning”) will prove to be a most happy one, and one that will be long remembered. ■ — D, C. ». 8. —, Friday morning, June 1, the Rosary society will treat the senior class to breakfast at the Fairway Restaurant. This generous service is truly appreciated by the entire graduating class. , — — D. C. H. S. — The entire high school and the Sth grade will ensemble in the school auditorium tomorrow afternoon to witness the annual farewell program presented by the seniors. A song by the seniors will get the program off to a pleasant start Roll call will then take place. Each year the remaining three high school Glasses and the Bth grade ar asked to make a specific statement about any senior and give it by roll call. This year the seniors have chosen that these classes answer this -question: “What Senior will you lemember most and why?" This question will undoubtedly receive qutie a few humorous answers. The reading of the seniors “Last Will A Testimony” will be done by Don Rumschdag, senior president. A prophecy of the seniors ten years from now will be en-

acted by Dolores Kinta, Rita Heimann. and Karen Murtaugh. The senior class will then present a skit, followed by a song which will conelhde the program and (the seniors hope) an enjoyable afternoon. — D. C. H. S. -* Twenty-four hours does not. seem enough time to carry out the numerous but necessary activities that occur during an average day. And with graduation at hand, a day seems even shorter. The seniors are busy practicing for graduation and are giving their vocal cords a real "workout” as they have been - practicing on their songs for June 1. — I). C. H. S. — The seniors of are not the only ones who will be leaving the halls, of D.C.H.S. One more person will be checked off the returning list for next fall. A'fine gentleman and an excellent coach and teacher — Davfe Terveer. Dave has accepted a position with the General Electric Co. in Fort Wayne. Although Dave will still reside in Decatur, he will no longer perform the duties of a baseball nad basketball coach or those of a teacher. In the classroni, on the field, or o nthebasketball floor, Dave will be long remembered and greatly missed. The students of Decatur Catholic wish you the best of luck in your new job, Dave! ! • ' — D. C. H. S. >-
The final week of school is approaching. This, it might be said, Is the hardest of them all. Those final tests are the reasons tor everyone to be indulging vigorously in their school books. Monday and Tuesday mornings will be set aside for the final exams with school being dismissed on those afternoons. Friday morning, report cards will be distributed and all anxiety will be over. — D. C. H. S. — The chemistry students have been busy cleaning up their “little messes” in the chemistry lab as a result />f nine month’s of work. There has been a bit of “secret borrowing” going on between the students as each student sees to it that he is not missing any chemical tube, for there is a fine connected if each'student doesn’t have the same tubes he started with at the beginning of the year, — D..C.H S- TSince tills is the lagt'. issue of the School Reporter.
