own, were being supported by par- - ents. At least one in ten of these newly-married couples was living . with their family. ' Miss Higgins cited a report ■ made by the Institute of Life Insurance on a National Office of ’ Vital Statistics survey. The typi- ' cal bride, the survey showed, is 21 to 22 years old; the groom is 1 just a few years older than she. The wife is probably not work- . i ing; only one in three brides goes • | back to the job after marriage.

The survey showed that a young first home often is not a permanent one, and the younger the head of the family, the mord likely he will move after marriage. Despite the trend of aubf rban living. Miss Higgins concluded. the U. S. is still ly a nation of city dwellers.
