Training School On Helal Roofing School Held Friday For 4-H Members A training school for 4-H members enrolled in the 1956 metal roofing project was held at the farm of Benj. Gerke in Root township Friday morning. 4-H members received instruction in the care and maintenance of metal roofing. They were instructed in repairing and painting a section of th* roof, and grounding it for protection against damage by lightning. Members enrolled in the project are Arnold Gerke. David Fuelling, Jim Boerger, Harold Weidler, and Dwight Schaefer. Approximately 21 persona were on hand for the forenoon demonstration, according to Leo N. Seltenright, county agent. Metallic zinc paint gives excellent service on old and new galvanized rooting. Two coats, properly applied, should last from 10 to 12 years. The second coat should be applied within four years after the first. Aluminum paint should not be used as a first coat over rust , '■ . , v 3. The lift ot galvanized sheets depends primarily on weight ot zinc coating. “Seal of Quality” galvanized sheets, having a coating of 2 ounces of zinc per square toot, will provide many extra years of rust-free service at small extra cost 4.
