ADAMS CENTRAL P.TA. TO HOLO SPECIAL MEETING A special meeting of the Adams Central P. T. A. will be held at the school gym Thursday evening it 7:30 o’clock. The subject of the evening will concern “remedial reading.” Tbe speaker for the evening will be Miss Rhoda Williams of Fort Wayn«- She ,9 a graduate of Marion College and received her bachelor and master degrees at the University of CinclnnatL She taught 1* years in the Marion and Grant county elementary schools and 18 years in special education for remedial reading in the Fort Wayne school. Miss Williams was president of the Fort Wayne teachers association from 1850-53, chairman of northeastern division of the Indiana state teachers association in 1963, and at present she is president of the Indiana state teachers association for 1956. The general public Is invited to attend this meeting. It is requested that anyone interested in remedial reading be present to hear Miss Williams discuss this problem. MRS. TOM KORTENBER IS FETED WITH BTORK SHOWER Mrs. Tom Kortenber • was the guest of honor at a stork shower Sunday evening at tbe home of Miss Greta Erekson. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Ralph Bollinger, Mrs. Donald Strickler, and Miss Gwen Hilyard. A "name the baby” pnoto contest was enjoyed by the group, with prises awarded to Mrs, Charles Niblick, Miss Barbara Kortenber and Miss Mary Kortenber. who in turn presented them to the honored guest. Before opening her many gifts, Mrs. Kortenber was presented a corsage of tulips and white narcissus. The gifts were cleverly dispteyed in a large pink and white decorated basket, with pink and white streamers going to the ceiling and reaching to the floor, on all sides of the gift table. A large plastic stork completed tbe decorations. Refreshments were then served
to the following guests: the Mesdames Joe Kortenbr, Charles Niblick, Russell Plumley, Fred Inch, Bob Zexer, Miriam Hall, Reid Erekson, and the Misses Barbara Kortenber, Theresa Kortenber, Mary Kortenber and Krissie Mutchler. Unable to attend the event were Mrs. Charles Hite, Mrs. Edward Marbaugh, Mrs. Sam Gilbert, Mrs. Kenneth Nash. Miss Jacqueline Reidenbach, and Miss .Marcia Ruddick. HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB HOLDS MEETING RECENTLY The- Gals and Pals home demonstration club met recently at the Pleasant Mills higl school with 19 members and three children present. Tbe meeting was called to order by Mrs. Gordon Suman, in the absence of the president, Mrs. Warren Wolfe. A poem entitled “May,” was given by Mrs. Paul McCullough. Mrs. Roman Sprunger gave a brief history pertaining to the song of the month. "The Physical Examination for You” was the title of the safety lesson, which was presented by Mrs. Richard Hamrick. The meeting was closed with the club prayer. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Charles Mcßride and Mrs. Paul McCullough. The door prise was won by Mrs. Ned Ray. RECENT MEETING HELD BY WORK AND WI|M CLASS The Work and Win class of the Trinity E. U. B. church met at the church Friday evening. The meeting was opened with a piano solo by Gloria Harvey. Scripture was read by Mrs. Homer Arnold and prayers were offered by Frank Fisher and Mrs. Fannie Hitchcock. Roll call was answered by 18 members and two guests present Officers elected for the coming year are: Clarence Drake, president; Francile Harvey and Opal Drum, secretary and treasurer; and Mra. Harry Brown, teacher. Other piano selections were rendered by Gloria Harvey and a reading was given by the teacher. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Emma Barkley, Mrs. Francile Harvey, and Mrs. Adam Kunowich. A mother and daughter banquet of the Zion Lutheran church will be held in the parish hall Wednesday evening at 6 o’clock. All those who attend are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table service. An interesting program is being planned. The D. A. V. auxiliary will have a business meeting at the home Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. f A recent meeting was held by the Everready class of the Methodise church in tbe churcn lounge with 24 members present Mrs. W. P. Robinson, president, presided over the business meeting and Mrs. Fred Hancher had charge of the program. Mrs. R. D. Myers led in devotions and refreshments were served during the social hour by Mrs. A«a Pollock, Mrs. Harry Sipe, Mrs. R. D. Myers, and Mrs. John T. Myers. The circles of the Presbyterian church wilt meet as follows: the Naomi circle will meet Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock with Mrs. Royal Friend. Mrs. D. Swickard wIU entertain the Ruth circle Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock the Martha circle will meet with Mrs. C. C. Langston. The Mary circle will meet Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Mrs. William Affolder. Mrs. Warren Greesley will be hostess to the Queen of Peace

A skating party was heidby the Builders class of the Trinity E.U.B. church with 120 attending. A business meeting followed the party and a discussion was held about taking a trip to the Lake of the Woods. No definite date was set. Lunch was then served by Mr. an<f Mrs. Voyte/nil and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hill. The W. P. M. A. and the Haresters and their wives will meet at the Mt. Zion church at-Bobo Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock. The Methodist W. 8. C. S. will meet at the church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Members of the Holy Family study club will meet with Mrs. Russell Schooler Thursday evening at 8:30 o’clock. All active members of Psi lota Xi sorority and all members of tbe honorary group are asked to meet at the Youth and Community Center Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock to have pictures taken. All members are urged to attend. The Little Flower study club will hold a regular meeting Thursday evening at 7:80 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Victor Ulman. All officers, presidents of the recall units, county superintendent, principals, and district director of the Adams county council of P.T.A. will meet immediately after the remedial reading program at the Adams Central school Thursday.\ In a recent letter to the Dally Democrat office from Mrs. Robert Sheehan, who is living in Okinawa, she states that she had as her dinner guests April 29 Jim Engle, ©wight Hoffman, Max Hilyard, and Kaye Runyon, all local boys stationed in Okinawa with the U. S. marines. Mrs. Sheehan said they had a grand time together and that the young men all looked wonderful. Eddie Drum was also to have been a guest, but was unable to attend. John Dalsell Sheehan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sheehan of Okinawa and former resident of Decatur, is in the army hospital in Okinawa after puncturing his left eye with a toy on May 1. He is in the care of an eye specialist and an operation may be necessary. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lengerich and son Fred, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hess attended the cap and cape investiture of Anna Marie Lengerich Sunday at the Church of Loreto, St. Mary’s convent, Notre Dame. Miss Lengerich was a 1955 graduate of Decatur Catholic high school and is taking her nurses’ training at the Holy Cross Central school of nursing at South Bend.
