MAY FELLOWSHIP OBSERVED FRIDAY EVENING AT CHURCH The May fellowship, sponsored by the united council of church women, was observed Friday night at 8 o'clock at the First Methodist church. The theme “Who Forms Your Opinions,” was presented by Mrs. Colin Finlayson. Miss Helen llaubold was in charge of the music. Mrs. Harmon Kraft gave the invocation and devotions were given by Mrs. W. h. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Elmer Scott.

The president, Mrs, Georgs Buckley-, spoke on the many services the council renders the community. A film, “The Sound of a Stone,” was shown to the group by Bill Smith. Following the film, a tea was held in the entertaining rooms of the church. Churches in charge of the meeting included the Bethany E.U.8.. Methodist, Church of God, and Christian. MOTHER-DAUGHTER BANQUET IS HELD THURSDAY EVENING Approximately 100 mothers and daughters attended tho annual mother-daughter banquet held in the fellowship basement of the Church of God Thursday evening. Following the supper, Veda Mitchel presented Sowers to Mrs. Wynn, oldest mother present; Lora Strickler, oldest daughter; Mrs. Mary Lou Everett, youngest mother; and Angelia Mitchel, youngest daughter. Mrs. Mary Hazelwood gave the daughter's welcome and Norma Agier gave the response. Mrs. W. H. Kirkpatrick was in charge of the worship service using as her theme “The Spirit of Motherhood —Love.” Hostesses for the evening were: Ethel Sheets, Nellie Morrison, Mrs. Herbert Hawkins, Edith Mattax, Minnie Chllcote, and Claudle Irwin. MISS GERALDINE JOHNSON ENGAGED TO WED The engagement of Miss Geraldine Johnson to Carl D. Johnson has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Johnson of route one, Monroe. Mr. Johnson is serving in the marine corps and is stationed in North Carolina. Plans have not yet been completed for the wedding, which will take place in the near future.
The Berean class of the First Baptist church met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. True Gepbart. Dinner was served to H members and, a business meeting was held after the dinner. A box was packed for a soldier durink the social hour. The Missionary women of the Nuttman Avenue V. B. church met recently with Mrs. Jessie Diehl. Mrs. Iris Harkless opened the devotional period followed by prayer. "The American Indian” was the subject of the study chapter. At the close of the business session light refreshments were served by the hostess. The meeting closed with prayer. A mother and daughter banquet will be held Friday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the Salem Methodist church. A program will follow the banquet. Our Lady of Lourdes study club will meet with Mrs. John Lengerich Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Emblem club will hold a mother's day party Thursday evening at the Elke home at 8 o’clock. Charles Kent will be the guest speaker and will apeak on his rock and Jewel collection. Members are urged to attend and bring their mothers or a guest. Call Mrs. Grace King for reservations. “ The Decatur Camera club will meet Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the Youth and Community Center. Eloise Noll will show pictures of her trip to Europe. Visitors are welcome. The Delta Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will meet with Mrs. Toey Beamer Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. The meeting at the Mothers Study Club, slated for Tuesday at 8 p.m., has been cancelled because of the primary election. The next meeting of the club will be May 22 and will feature the mothers party and installation of officers. Ed Miller, Decatur police officer and former Adams county sheriff, who suffered a heart attack several weeks ago, has been able to walk in the yard of his home on Winchester street this week. Mirthsi Sharon Annette is the name of the six pound, seven ounce baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Don Miller of Ohio City, 0., at the Van Wert hospital May 2. Mrs. Miller was the former Agnes Eyanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eyanson. At' the Adams county memorial hospital? James Moser and Glenna Sprunger Moser of Berne are the parents of a baby boy, born Friday at 6:65 p. m. Monroe Hardy Workers The Monroe Hardy Workers 4-H club held their third meeting in the gym at the Adams Central school. The meeting was called to order by the president. Nancy Shoaf. Pledges were led by Barbara Wolfe and Ned Stucky. Songs were led by Mae Chrlstener. Roll call was answered by “favorite car." The minutes west read an< l approved, after which old and new business were discussed. Demonstrations were given by Olin W. Moeschberger, Howard Williams, and Chlo Elden Neuenschwander. The new members were initiated and refreshments were served.
