Research Rocket Is Crashed At Takeoff Navy Planning New Test Next Tuesday White Sands Proving Ground, N. M. (INS) —Navy scientists, undismayed over the crash or a new Aerobee-Hi research rocket, will try again Tueaday to set a new altitude record of 185 miles. They will launch a second Aerobee with a similar payload of 140 pounds of scientific Instruments in its nose cone in hopes of learning more about the ionosphere, meteor dust and other mysteries of outer space. Observers a quarter mile from the three legged 16 story steel tower Wednesday saw the six-foot tall rocket booster underneath the first Aerobee-Hi Ignite. The rocket was pushed upward for approximately 18,000 feet by the booster’s powerful thrust but its own engine failed to start. The rocket booster tumbled away and the Aerobee-Hi Itself could be seen failing toward the launching 1 Urea at White ' Sands proving ’ ground. It crashed a mile northeast of the launcher and the blockhouse control center, bigging a crater, the rocket burst into a mass of flames as the nitric acid, aniline and alcohol fuels caught fire, sending off a cloud of acrid reddishbrownsmoke. New Indiana Band Director Is Named BLOOMINGTON. Ind. (INS) — Ronald D.
