"DECATURITES ATTEND EASTERN STAR CONVENTION Miss Mary Louise Little of North Manchester was elected worthy grand matron of Indiana of the Order of Eastern Star at the 82nd annual session held Wednesday and Thursday at the Murat Temple in Indianapolis. Others elected include Judge Kenneth E. Copes, Brookville, patron; Mrs. Donna Tuttle, Oaston, associate matron; Willard Avery, Knightstown, associate patron; Mrs. Vera Argus, Indianapolis, secretary; Mrs. Jane B. Sense, West Lafayette, treasurer; Mrs. Helen Houser, Monon, conductress; and Mrs. Inez Scott, Edinburg, associate conductress. Members of the Decatur chapter J 27 attending were: Mr. and Mra. Robert Macklin, Mrs. Raymond Eichenauer, Mrs. Howard Eley, Mrs. Glenn Hill, Mrs. Dan Tyndall, Mrs. Niland Ochsenrider, Mrs. Clarence Snyder, Mrs. Richard Schafer, Mre. Gene Hike, Mrs. Robert Lord, and Mrs. Merle Foor. Mrs. Opal Clements, Huntington, has been appointed deputy of district number 14. DISTRICT AUXILIARY JUNIORS MEET HERE The sixth annual fourth district conference of the American Legion auxiliary juniors will be held next Saturday, May 5 at the Decatur Youth and Community Center, with the Decatur unit number 43 acting as hosts, it was announced today by Mrs. Ed Bauer, district and local unit chairman. Several hundred girls from the various units of the fourth district are expected to attend, Mrs. Bauer said. Registration for the all day conference will be from 9:30 to 10 o'clock next Saturday morning. ■The business session will start at 10 o'clock. Girls from the following units will preside: President, Bluffton; vice-presi-dent, unit 82, Fort Wayne; secretary, unit 47 Fort Wayne; treasurer, Angola; chaplain, Orland; historian, unit 148, Fort Wayne; sergeant-at-arms and assistant, Woodburn. Miss Katherine Goelz, president of the Decatur unit, will extend the welcome to all juniors and their guests. Miss Patricia Cook will introduce distinguished guests attending the conference. Miss Caroline Taylor, also of Decatur, will provide music for the meeting.

Following a noon luncheon, served by mothers of the Decatur unit members, entertainment will be presented by each unit. This program will be in the form of a talent contest. The Misses Cheryl Ashbaucher and Patricia Cook will be in charge of the talent program. Both young ladles are from the local unit. MISS ARDOLA PARRISH HONORED AT SHOWER A miscellaneous shower was held Thursday evening by Mrs. C. W. IR. Schwartz and Mrs. Larry R. Schwartz in honor of Miss Ardola Parrish. An umbrella adorned in pink and white was used as the table centerpiece. Games were played and prizes were won by Mrs. Richard Martin, Miss Lorna Smith, Mrs. Kenneth Parrish, Miss Gretchen Schnepp, Mrs. Kay Ratcliff, Mrs. Marilyn Longenberger, and Miss Betty Smith who in turn presented them to the honored guest. Refreshments were served to the 16 guests present. Various colored miniature umbrellas filled with mints were given as favors. »■—' 1 T—MEETING HELD BY FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE The Friendship circle of the Missionary church held their April meeting at the home of Crystal Hook with 19 members and four guests, Mrs. Martha Sheets, Mrs. Fern Augsburger, Mrs. Helen Emenhiser, and Garnett Bixler, present. Mrs. Eugene Beam gave the devotions. The president read letters from the Lazy Mountain children's home and the Fort Wayne Bible College. The group then spent the evening discussing the Christian home. (Refreshments were served by Kate Bonifas, Crystal Hook, and Vern Augsburger. The next meeting will be a mother and daughter tea at the home of Mrs. Herald Welty. tW " ■ - GET ACQUAINTED MEETING SLATED FOR GOLFERETTES A “get acquainted” meeting is slated for next Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock for all women of Decatur and area interested in playing golf this summer. The meeting will take place at the Decatur Youth and Community center; and it has been stressed that lady golfers need not be a member or a champion. golfer to join the group. The summer program plans include a weekly "ladies day” that can only be accomplished by a good turn out to this meeting. The annual mother and daughter banquet of the Bethany E. U. Mt church will be held Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock at the church. Members are asked to note the change in the date. Tickets are on sale tor 75 cents for adults and 50 cents for children under 12. Mrs. Carl Adler will be hostess to ttbe Happy Homemakers home demonstration club Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. The Catholic ladies of Columbia will meet at the C. L. of C. hall Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. A rummage sale will be sponsored by the Decatur Eastern Star at the Decatur Hatchery Friday. May 4, from 1 p. m. until 5 p. m. and Saturday May 5, from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. Mrs. Charles O’Shaughnessey will be hostess to the Sancta Marla study club Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Frances Terveer, Phil Terveer of this City and Miss Marie Bellinger, Fort Wayne, left this morning for a week-end visit at Beloit, 0., with Mr, and Mrs. Tom Terveer and familv Mr. and Mrs. rrarry Knapp nave returned home after a spring motor trip through Florida, Louisiana, and other southern states. Work is nearing completion on the new stone front being erected at the Citizens Telephone Co. office buildings on Monroe street. Resurfacing work on Monroe street through Decatur has been completed by Meshbergor Stone Co. and the state highway commission. The street is how open to traffic all the way through the city. Miss Susan Sutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Sutton, has recovered from a siege of the measles.

Girl Scout News Girl Scout troop nine met at the Youth and Community Center Thursday after school. The committee met and planned for the mother’s day party. We closed with the fllrl Scout promise.
