WOMEN’S GUILD HOLD (MEETING RECENTLY The Women’s guild or the Zion E. and R. church met Wednesday evening for the April meeting. Mrs. Wesley Lehman, program chairman, opened the meeting with silent prayer. • > The topic for the evening was "A Cbriatian is Committed to Pray Daily," and was presented by Mrs. Lehman, assisted by Mrs. Robert Houk and Mrs. Lawrence Rash. • What is Prayer,’ wae. read>»y Mrs. James Borders. Barbara Black Is Wed Easter Sunday To Noel E. Thatcher The Woods Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church in Wren, 0., was the scene of the wedding of Miss Barbar Ellen Black and Noel Edgar Thatcher with the Rev. Albert Straley officiating for the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Black of 816 Line street, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Thatcher of Wrfi, O. The sferemony took place Easter Sunday afternoon at 3:80 o’clock. The bride chose a princess style gown of i flocked printed white nylon organdy with a bouffant bal-lerina-length skirt and fashioned with a V-shaped neckline. The volunteers will offer poppies to be worn in memory of the nation’s war dead, and will receive,contributions for the welfare of disabled war veterans and needy children of veterans. “Practically all auxiliary members able to serve are volunteering for Poppy a Day duty," Mrs. Monahan said. “We are also receiving volunteers from other organizations of young women who want to help keep bright the memory of the war dead and aid wars’ living victims. The women of our, city are giving a patriotic response to the auxiliary’s call for Poppy Day workers." While no active -solicitation of funds has been undertaken, several local organibations have contributed to the building fund. Balance Os the money to be used for construction of the summer headquarters at Hanna-Nuttman park will come from Girl Scout troop projects. Construction of the building will be completed this year, leaders state.
