MARY JANE ROUGHIA CELLEBRATEB BIRTHDAY Miss Mary Jane Roughia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Roughia of route six, Decatur, was honored Thursday after school with a party darklng her eighth birthday. wjetle served and games were played. Each guest received balloons, gum, and candy. Those attending the party included Judy Hakes, Cindy Hurst, Deane Marts, Judy Myers, Donna and Susie Noll, Vickie and Linda McCiain, Sharon Currie, Colleen, Ginger Lou, and Donna Sue Roughla, and the honored guest. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Goldie Roop, grandmother of the honored guest. 0. A. V. AUXILIARY HOLDS SOCIAL MEETING THURSDAY A social meeting was held by the D. A. V. auxiliary at the D.A.V. home Thursday. The chaplain, Mrs. Helen Myers, celebrated her birth day. Prides were awarded to Mrs. Deloria Burger, Mrs. Alice Eyanson, Mrs. Helen Myers, Mrs. Ellen Scheimann, Mrs. Mildred Belta, and Mrs. Betty Tinkham. A luncheon was served by the hostaswr-H, Mrs. Doris Leonard, Mrs. Norma Lammert, Mrs. Nora Lee Ziner, and Mrs. Mildred Buettner. A bake sale will be sponsored by the organization Saturday, March 31. GENERAL MEETING IS HELD BY BETHANY W. 8. W. 8. The general meeting of the W. S. W. 5. of the Bethany E. U. B. church waa held Thursday afternoon in the social rooms of the church. Prelude music was played by Mrs. Meta Hamms, followed by group singing. Mrs. Martha Rawley gave the devotions. The business meeting was conducted by the president; Mrs. Dorothy Alger. It was voted to give 310 to the Red Cross and $5 to the council of church women and also to pay for the Easter breakfast for the young people. Refreshments were served to the group by Unit two, with Mrs. Edna Hammond as chairman. FEDERATION OF CLUBS HOLD CLOSING MEETING The Adams county Federation of clubs held their closing meeting of the year with a potluck dinner at the American Legion home. Pictures were shown to the group on "Atomic Warfare Operation Ivy." Lt Garner gave a very interesting and informative address on civil defense. A question and answer period followed the talk. — —4 Mrs. R. C. Hersh presided over the business meeting. Election of officers was held with the following results: president, Mrs. R. C. Hersh; treasurer, Mrs. Myrtle Fllson; and secretary, Mrs. Frank Crist. Mrs. Glenn Hill gave a report from the Woman’s t club and Mrs. Lois Black reported' on the Shakespeare dub. EMBLEM CLUB TO PRESENT GIRL BCOUT PINS The Emblem club will present Girl Scout pins to Brownie troop 14. The troop has been sponsored by the organization and the decision was made at a recent meeting held by the club. During the business meeting plans were made to color eggs for the Elks annual Easter egg hunt* to be held Raster Sunday afternoon. A contribution was made to the Red Cross and to the Emblem club national convention fund. The dub will elect officers for the coming year at the next regular meeting. The nominating committee include* Mrs. James Biker, Mrs. tdabelle Alton, '’Mrs. Carl Baxter, Mrs. Bernard Hain, and Mrs; Forrest Murray. Mrs. Helen Howell won the attendance prize and door prizes were won by Mrs. Walter Gilliom and Mrs. George Bair. Hostesses for the evening were: Mrs. Bill Mansfield, Mrs. Forrest Murrty, Mrs. James Newton and Mrs. Viola Dull. EMMAUS GUILD HOLDS MEETING RECENTLY The Emmaus gild-of Zion Lutheran church met recently in the parish half. The meeting was opened with devotions by Mrs. John Kiess. SNOKE of Fort Wayne announce the engagement of their daughter Cynthia Ann, to Roger Lee Bollenbacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Bollenbacher of Fort Wayne. The bride-elect is a graduate of North Side high school and is employed as a secretary at Mac Alaster Machinery company. Her fiance was graduated from Pleasant Mills high school and served two years !n the U. K army. He is a junior at Purdue University. No wedding date has been set.

This interesting and highly informative program consisted of a skit by Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Hazelwood. Miss Nelson and Mrs. Linn presided at a question and answer fogum concerning their varied activities. Door prizes were awarded to Mrs. John Jones and Mrs. Robert Krueckeberg. A delicious lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. William Gernand and Mrs. Wilmer Bultemeler. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 19. The St. Vincent DePaul socletv will meet at the C. L. of C. haff Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Ralph Yager will be hostess to the Bethany circle of the Zion E. and R. churph Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Leßoy Riffle of 104 East Grant street, who has been confined to his home for the past two weeks with a severe skin irritation, is reported to be slightly improved. He is expected to return to work in the very near future. Mrs. Dick Heller is visiting for several days in Rensselaer with her mother, Mrs. Van R. Grant. Eld" Millet, Decatur police officer, who suffered a heart attack several days ago. Is reported, to be improved at Adams county memorial hospital. Mrs. J. C. Sutton, Sr. has gone to Coatesville for a several weeks visit with her son, Richard Sutton and family. Miss Gaynel Lankenan left last night via Delta airlines for Bloomington, where she will spend the week-end at Indiana University. Little Miss Chert Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Jacobs. - will model for the House of Golden tonight at 8 O'clock in a style show to be held at the Coliseum in Fort Wayne.-

City Court Is Busy Place This Morning City court was busy this morning as Mayor Robert Cole had two drunken driving cases and a public intoxication case. George and Fred Carpenter were arrested last night on Thirteenth street by state police. George was charged with drunken driving and Fred was arrested for public intoxication. Both pleaded guilty. George Carpenter was fined SSO and costs, totaling $64.75, sentenced to five days in the county jail, and would have had his driver’s license su--1 spended except that he told the court he had been driving for eight years without a license. Fred was fined $1 and costs, totaling sl4. Mark Marbatrgh, Ohio City, Ohio; was arrested early this morning for driving under the influence of intoxicating drink after an accident on Limberlost Trail. Marbaugh was heading east on highway 224 and' 'turned the wrong way after crossing the river bridge. Attempting to turn around, his car crashed into a light pole. Marbaugh waa taken to the county hospital with a bad bump on the head. He was treated and then removed to the jail. He pleaded guilty to charges and was fined SSO and costs, totaling $64.75, and given a five-day sentence in the county jail. Damages to Marbaugh’s car totaled S3OO. A passenger riding with him was unhurt. Cars driven by Walter A. Osterman and Robert D. Zeser were involved in an accident Friday at the Intersection of Madison and Third streets. Damages to the Zeser car were estimated at $25, while the Osterman vehicle had estimated damages of $75. Benson Calls Farm Bill Unworkable WASHINGTON (INS) —Agriculture secretary Ezra Taft Benson has made it clear he will ask President Elsenhower to veto ths house-senate farm bill unless it is brought closer to administrtion proposals.
