Semi - Finals In I Invitational On Card Tonight NEW YORK (INS) —Little St. Francis sends the last remaining unseeded team to the national invitation tournament tonight and Cue Cinderefas from Brooklyn should be leaving the ball in rags by the witching hour. For the Terriers battle top-seed-ed Dayton (H-3) without their big gun, Danny Mannix, after St. Joseph’s of Philadelphia meets secondseeded Louisville in the semi-finals at Madison Square Garden. Those present from Decatur were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roth, Ernest Worthman. Anthony Murphy, Mrs. Evelynn Kingsley. Mr. and Mrs. Meldren Kreps and Mrs. Bernice Bassett. The next district meeting will be held at the Decatur lodge April 20. Record Amount Os Insurance Payments Harry H. Dickinson, manager of the Prudential Insurance Co’s Fort Wayne district office, reported today that a record amount of payments to Prudential policyholders and beneficiaries in Indiana during 1955 totaled $20,203,000. Slxty-nioe percent of this amount, or more than sl9 million, was paid directly to living policyholders. Dickinson's announcement was based on figures released by James E. Rutherford, vice president in charge of Prudential’s Mld-Amer-tea operations covering Illinois and Indiana. The total shattered a previous high in 1954 by over $2 million. ' Arrest Decatur Man For Theft Os Scrap Dale 1 Johnson, 35. of Decatur, was arrested Wednesday by city police on a warrant for petit larceny. Johnson, who is bring held in jail, allegedly stole some scrap iron from- the Krick-TyndeH company. He was found guilty in mayor's court this afternoon and fined $1 and costs and given a six month suspended sentence. Fined $1 and costs for reckless | driving late last night, was Kenneth Schueler of route two. Schueler lost control of the car he was driving as he made a left turn off Winchester street onto Rugg street, and ran into the curb on the side of Rugg street. Damage was estimated at SSO. The case of Marvin Fas, 20, who was arrested early today for speeding, has been taken under advisement. Cub Scout Pack To Meet This Evening Cub Scout pack 3061 will have its pack meeting at 7 o'clock this evening at tbe Lincoln school, according so an announcement by John Flickinger, pack master. An inspection of uniforms will climax a training and resulting growing interest in personal neatness and pride in the uniform. Theinapection will be made by the 3061 committee, William Lose, Jr., David Smith. John Ebersole, the Rev. Ray J. Walther, and Bryce Thomas. Court House Matron Is Granted Leave The county commissioners met for a special session this morning at the county court house for the purpose of making a temporary appointment to replace Mrs. Jewel Ehinger as court house matron, who has been granted a three-week leave of absence. The oomnsissioners appointed Mrs. Spencer Andrews as matron for the temporary period. The appointment is effective beginning Monday morning. The commissioners alsc discussed the problem of the boilers at the county home which are badlg in need of repair. The problem will be given further consideration at future meetings and the boilers will be inspected to see if replacement is advisable. Witnesses Plan Memorial Service A local spokesman for Jehovah's witnesses announced today that at the memorial observance 'to be held Monday, March 26 at 8 p. m., more than 14,000 congregations earth-wide will observe the memorial of the death of Jesus Christ on the same date.
