Commercial Airlines 7 Speed Record Broken CHICAGO (INS) — A United Air Lines DC-7 plane clipped 45 minutes from a commercial airlines speed record for a flight from Newark, N. J., to Chicago Monday night by flying the distance in two hours and 10 minutes, Twenty passengers were aboard the four-engined craft, piloted by Capt. James Hitchcock of Newark. He reported slight tailwinds aided in setting the new record. BRITISH FORCES (Continued from Fags Qin; stration near the Kyrenia Gate. The demonstration came on the heels of a battle between Turks and Cypriot Greeks Monday in the village of Vassilia. The clash was the first between Turks and Greeks since the deportation by the British of Archbishop Makarios. Twenty-four persons were injured before the British clamped a curfew on the village. Meanwhile, the leader of the Turkish minority, Dr. Fazul Kutchuk, sent a strong protest about Monday night’s battle to Sir John Harding, British governor of Cyprus. Three Cars Involved In Accident Monday Three cars were involved in an accident at 4:30 p.m. Monday about two and a half miles east of Berne on state highway 118. A car driven by Ervin LuginblU, 56, of Berne route two, was parked along the aide of (he road opposite a lane. Sherwood Stanley Sprunger, 36, of Monroe route one, was coming out of the lane making a left turn. §prunger stated that his vision was obscured by the sun and he did not sea a third ear approachIngfrom the west.
