LARGE CROWD ATTENDS SPRING STYLE SHOW New spring apparel tor any type of activity any time of the day, wan presented to a large crowd ot lashion mijidnd Decaturltea at Tuesday evening’s Delta Theta Tau sponsored style show, "Walk Around the Clock," which took place at the Decatur Youth and Community Center, The program was opened' with a number ot spring melodies being played by Mrs. James Kocher, on the vlbra-harp, and she continued the light musical background as each of the models was Introduced by Mrs. Gene Chronister, and then as they displayed their costumes. Assisting the models on and ott the stage were Mrs. Frank Lybarger and Mrs. Kenneth Arnold. Almost stealing the show with their own particular why ot modeling were the small models from the Kiddie shop, little Miss Kathy Mallonee, Miss Sallie Christen. Stevie Christen, and Stevie Smith. Wearing the latest fashions from Niblick’s were Mrs. Bill Butler, Mrs. Clarence Snyder, Miss Ann Arnold, and a little couple from the kindergarten set, Miss Jane Anspaugh and Jonnle Boch. Modeling fashions "pretty enough for a bridal trousseau" wa4 Miss Pat Mies, representing the E. F. Gass store, Other models from GUss's denoting sports wear, afternoon wear and evening wear, were Miss Mara Dee Striker, MIM Helen Haubold, andyMrs. Wilbur Petrie Models for Blackwell's department store Included Mrs. Ferris Bowbr. Mrs. (Gene Rash, Miss Carolyn Rash, Miss Janet Lane. Tony Kelly and Stanley Kirkpatrick, all In keeping with the "around the clock” theme. Miss Susan Heller and Miss Suzzanne Smith modeled the spring apparel from the Lord's store, and presenting fashions for the masculine gender.

were the models from the Why atore, Harold Sommer, Ralph Thomas, and George Mulligan. After each of the models had appeared in three separate ensembles, they formed a delightful "Easter Parade" wearing their last costume to be modeled. This was followed by a ballet solo by Miss Cheri Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and z Mrs. Donald Jacobs, after which various door prizes were awarded. Light refreshments were served to those attending, from a pretty accentuated table, dona mostly in green and white, the Delta Theta Tau sorority colors. HOME DEMONSTRATION COUNCIL IN MEETING The Adams county home demonstration council met Tuesday at the Farm Bureau building in Monroe. Mrs. R. C. Hersh, ehairman of the council, called for the following committee reports: Past presidents, Mrs. Herb Banning; achievement day, Mrs. Gale Cook; travel, Mrs. Howard Nussbaum;* chorus, Mrs. Leland Ray; camp, Mrs. Clifford Essex; health, Mrs. William Kohne. The past president’s banquet will be held Friday, Apr! 20 at the Berne-French school. The meal will be served by Swiss Village club and entertainment provided by the M.W.F. club. Saturday, April 28, will be the annual home demonstration achievement day. This is to be held at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. The county home . demonstration picnic will be Monday, July 9 rather than July 30.1 Committee appointed for the picnic includes Mrs. Noah L. Habegger, Mrs. Everett Lehman and Mrs. William Kruetzman. The council voted to purchase a ventilator for the 4-H kitchen. Mrs. R. C. Hersh, council chairman, appointed the following committee to investigate the purchase of such ventilator: Mrs. Theron Fenstermaker, Mrs. Carl Frey, and Mrs. William Kruetzman. It was also voted by the council to send two lesson leaders and the president from each club to summer conference at Purdue, June 12-14. Following a potluck dinner at noon, the vice-presidents of most clubs were represented to receive training on program planning. Various trends and outlook In different phases of home economics were presented by Mrs. Dale Moses-, Mrs. Glen Stucky, Mrs, - Floyd Khrtnan, Mrs. Thearl Stults. and Mrs. Dan Striker. Chairman of th% program planning Committee iw Mrs. Dale Moses. The home agent then demonstrated a suggested method ot presenting program planning in each local club. A summary meeting will be held Tuesday, May 29. GIRL BCOUT WEEK TO CLOSE SUNDAY AFTERNOON Girl Scout week got under way with many of the Girl Scouts attending church together last Sunday. There is a window display at Niblick's department—store and one at the Kiddie shop. The girls are now delivering their Girl Scout cookies and if any troop would like a few more boxes, the leaders may contact Mrs. Watson Maddox.

MR. AND MRS. MARION STULTS of 330 North Fourth street will observe their golden wedding anniversary Sunday. Open house will be observed from 2 until 5 o’clock at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Stults were married March 18, 1906. They have three sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Sons are Francis of Fort Wayne. Girl Scout week will close with the Juliette Low program Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Youth and Community Center. The girls are reminded to have their pennies for friendship to their representatives by Sunday. Mrs. Harve Baker conducted the business meeting. During the meeting skits on patriotism were presented by Katherine Goelz and Angela Andrews entitled "Red, White and a Patch ot Blue.” Mrs. Arthur Meyers led the group in singing, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Roop During the meeting reports were given by various chairmen. Mrs. Ralph Roop %ave the lesson on "Cool Framer and Hot Beds.” Mrs. Haley, presi dent, presided over the business meeting. Roll call was answered «by “my favorite plant.” Mrs. Edgar Gerber and Mrs. Stu art Brightwell were welcomed into the club as new members. Mrs Meldron Kreps had charge of the ■entertainment. Prizes were won by Mrs. Paul Daniels, -Mrs. Frank Crist, Mrs. Brightwell, and Mrs. Floyd Arnold. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Alva Lawson assisted by Mrs. Clarence Smitley. Mrs. Alva Buffenharger will have charge of the le» son and Mrs. Grover Levy wil' have charge of the entertainment. He is not allowed visitors. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Garner of Decatur Tuesday at 7:39 p.m., weighing eight pounds and four ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Braun of Decatur became the parents of a baby girl born today at 11 weighing six pounds and four ounces.

Laird Appointed To Fill Senate Vacancy CHARLESTON, W, Va. (INS) — William R. Laird, HI. of Fayetteville, W. Va.. will fill th4 sonata seat of“tbe late Hartey Kilgore until a successor Is elected. The 38-year-old state tax commissioner was appointed tp the U. 9. senate Tuesday by Governor William Marland. Kilgore died at 68 last Feb. 28 following a heart attack in Bethesda, Md.
