Continue Study Os Westinghouse Plan Attempting To Draft New Work Contract WASHINGTON (INS) —Official* of the Westinghouse Electric corp and the AFLCIO International Union of Electrical Workers are meeting again today to try to draft a new work contract which would end the company’s 150-day strike. The company and union ' negotiating teams are reported to be toiling slowly over contraot language. But how much progress they have made, it any, has not been disclosed. The expectation is that they will not succeed inw orking out a contract before the end of this week, at best. It they do, it is expected to result in ae immediate return to work of the 38,000 lUE members still reported to be on strike. A question still would remain as to about 10,000 United Electrical Workers said to be out. A separate agreement would have to be worked out with the UEW, which was ousted from the old CIQ some years ago on charges of Communist domination. Representatives of the company and the IUE are meeting as a result of a summons Monday from federal mediation director Joseph F. Finnegan, who asked them to sit down and try to write a contract. Finnegan made his move bar cause mediators had concluded that negotiations between the two sides had reached a point where, they should attempt to spell out contract language. Both parties are trying to draft a contract within the general framework of a plan for settling the strike submitted by a threeman panel of mediators March 3. Proxy Fight On For Seiberling Firm Battle For Control To Climax April 23 CLEVELAND (INS) — A proxy fight between two Ohioans — industrialist Edward Lamb of Toledo and J. P. Seiberlin of Barberton — will' reach a climax April 23 when stockholders of Seiberling Rubber Co; meet to elect nine members to the board of directors. - J . P-. The soft-spoken rubber company executive promised an all-out battle to keep the present manage-. ment in power by declaring that the company would go to “every expense and effort to find every Seiberling stockholder that exists in the world." "Seiberling said his family and - present officers have only a slightly smaller amount of stock than ; the Lamb interests, Seiberling said his group owns at least 55,000 sharp' of the -tl4,(Wt) comnion shares outstanding. j Meanwhile, Lamb, who also publishes a newspaper in Erie, Pa., filed a statement with the securities and exchange commission Monday stating that he and his associates own 79,241 common shares. Seiberling pointed out that Lamb bad earlier claimed that his associations owned 115.000 shares. Lamb is demanding that hisJ group be granted five members otfT the nine-member board.
