BUSINESS MEETING 18 HELD BY D. A. V. AUXILIARY The D- A. V. auxiliary held their business meeting Thursday night at the D. A. V. home. The meeting was opened by singing “The Star Spnagled Banner*' The minutes were read by the adjutant, Mrs. Doria Spiegel. Mrs. Clara BUen Hitchcock gave her secretary’s report and publicity chairman,, Mrs- Helen Myers, reported oh the presentation ot the flags to Brownie troop 25, which was held recently. Wednesday night, March 14, Lenten services will be held for the patients at the Veterans hospital in Fort Wayne. Members are asked to donate cookies and those wishing to attend are asked to get in touch with Mrs. Mildred Beltz. Mrs. Doris Leonard announced that a bake sale will be held by the auxiliary March 31. Plans were made to entertain the state officers in April. The penny collection was held and the meeting was closedB. P. W- TO MEET WEDNESDAY NIGHT A dinner meeting of the Decatur Business and professional Women’s club will take place Wednesday at 6:30 p. m. at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. BUSINESS MEETING HELD BY MISSIONARY SOCIETY Mrs. Bryce Daniels conducted the meeting of the Baptist Missionary society which was held Thursday evening at the church. Devotions were given by Mrs. Cal Peterson. Sixteen members answered roll call and guests Included Mrs. James Halberstadt and Mrs. Paul McCullough of Pleasant Mills; and Mrs- Malcom Brown and Mrs- Max Markley of Bluffton. The minutes were read and approved and Mrs. Edward Lobsiger read the treasurer’s report- The associational spring, meeting will ibe held at Warden Thursday, March 15. All members are invited to attend. A carry-in dinner will be featured at the noon hour. The society is considering what part they can take in furnishing the dormitory at Franklin College. Mrs. Max Markley presented an informative talk on “Missions in a Revolutionary World.” During the socal hour refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs- John Mays, Mrs. Harrison Hakes, and Miss Lois Metzger. The next meeting will b$ held April 2. MONMOUTH P- T. A. TO OBSERVE RECOGNITION NIGHT The Monmouth P. T. A. will hold their annual athletic recognition night Tuesday, with a potluck supper at 6:30 o’clock. At this time, recognition is given to all boys participating in basketball track, cross country, and baseballSpeaker for the evening will be Eldy Lunquist, sports director for station W. T- R. C. at Elkhart., Toastmaster will be John Rosier, Monmouth high school teacher Devotions will be given by the Rev. Otto Busse, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran church. Mrs. Richard Hamrick presented a very timely lesson on safety measures in the home- Mrs. Lowell Noll presented the lesson of the month entitled "Disguising Your Flgue Faults.” At the close of the meeting refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs: Edgell, and the eohostess, Mrs. Earl Geyer. The door prize was won by Mrs. Russell Watkins. The XI Alpha Xi chapter ot Beta Sigma Phi will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Nija Neil. The W- S. W. S. of the Trinity E. U. Miss Ruth Busse Wed Recently To Frederick Bienz Miss Ruth Ann Busse became the bride of Frederick Bienz Sunday evening in a double-ring ceremony with the Rev. Edgar Schmid* and the Rev. O. C- Busse, uncle of the bride, officiating. Parents ot the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Busse of route two. Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Bienz of route five, Decatur. The Zion Lutheran church altar was adorned with beauty vases-- of gladioli, candelabra and palms and the pews were marked with white satin bowsThe musicals was presented by organist Donald Bieberich, cousin of the bride. The bride was attired In a white moire taffeta gown fashioned with- a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves ending in points over her hands- The beuffant skirt ended, in a train- Her fingertip tulle veil fell from a duster of, pearls. She carried a white prayer book ( topped with a purple- Orchid. Mrs. Wallace Hertel, sister of the bride, attended as matron-of-honor in a Nile green strapless floor-length gown of satin, topped with three tiers of nylon net. She wore a matching lace jacket and matching head piece and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysantheWilliams will be the leader and election of officers will be held. Mrs- Busse chose a navy blue dress with pink accessories. Mrs. Bienz was also attired in a navy blue dress with pink accessories. Both wore corsages of white carnations. Two hundred and fifty guests attended the reception which was held, following the ceremony, In the parish hall. The serving table was topped with a four-tier cake. The young couple is residing on route two, Decatur. Mrs. Robert Garard and Mrs. Mary Ahr of this city attended the funeral services held for Mrs. .Clark Mumma at the Methodist church in Haviland, Ohio, Friday.. Mr and Mrs Fred Mylott of Findlay, 0., attended the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Agnes Mylott Snow, Wednesday. Regular Legion— _ Meeting Monday The regular meeting of Adams. Post 43, American Legion, will be held at-8 o’clock Monday night at the Legion home on Madison street. A free feed will be served following the meeting. All members are urged to attend. Benny Goodman Story Currently At Adams “The Benny Goodman Story," based on the life of the famous orchestra leader, currently showing at the Adams theater, will continue through Monday. Although the title role is enacted by the well-known TV comedian. Steve Allen, the clarinet music heard during the picture is played by Benny Goodman himself. The cast of this Technicolor production includes Donna Reed, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton and many more. Jennifer Jones, audience award winning actress, has the leading role in “Good Morning, Miss Dove” coming to the Adams Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The heart-warming story of the school teacher whose personality guided the lives of hundreds of youngsters was based oh the best-selling novel. Also in the cast of this Clnenfascope production are Robert Stack, Marshall Thompson and Robert Douglas. Robert Taylor portrays the character of the historic Western bad man in “Billy the Kid” playing at the Adams next Friday and Saturday. Vacation Church Institute Is Held 55 Enrolled Here For Church School Fifty-five workers were enrolled in the vacation church school institute held Friday in the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church. This was the largest institute which this team had this week. The one in Marion Thursday registered 40. • In addition to one lady who came all the way from Winchester and four from the Geneva E. U. B. church, the following churches were represented: Zion Evangelical and Reformed, 15; Bethany E. U. B„ 10; Trinity E. U. B.,8; Union Chapel E. U. B. 1; Church of God, 6; Methodist, 6; Presbyterian, 3; Nazarene, 1. , The workers were high in their praise and appreciation of the help received from the leaders who came under the auspices of the Indiana council of churches. Among the leaders was Mrs. F. H. Willard, of Wabash, who. with her husband, were formerly pastor and wife in the Bethany parsonage. Motorist Is Fined On Traffic Counts William E. Robinson, rural route two, Versailles, Ohio, was arrested for passing on the yellbw line and speeding on Mercer avenue near the city limits. He was fined $5 and costs, totaling sls-75-Clifford L. GrabiU, of GrabiU, was arrested by state police for operating a truck With no turn signals. He will appear in count later.
