WEIGHT WATCHERS CLUB ATTENDS RECOGNITION DAY The Decatur Weight Watchers club met last evening for their regular meeting During the busix nets meeting, a report wm given on the annual Indiana state recognition day which was held last Saturday at the Simpson Methodist church in Fort Wayne The program for the meeting conelated of two health movies, by courtesy of the heart foundation, and bulletins and displays which were open for Inspection. A lecture on "nutrition" was then presented, after which a luncheon consisting of 400 calories waa served. Group singing was then enjoyed, followed by a style show by Sears H Roebuck and Co. Eether Manz, founder of the Tops club, and Ruth Reed, the are* mother, briefly gave encouraging talks to the women present Weight division winners were then given recognition. Those from Decatur Include: division one, Mr*. Clem Baker; division two, Mrs Herald Hitchcock; division three, Mrs. Hubert Gate; division four; Mrs. Doyle Lee; and division five, Mrs Harvey Haggard. Mrs. Case was also given recognition for having lost the most weight from her elub during 1956. Commencement exercises were held for the Kops (keep pounds off sensibly) club. Mrs. HarveyHaggard of the local club, who had reached her goal of 21 pounds, was also graduated. Following the crowning of two queens, a comical pantomine was presented by a Fort Wayne club. for a tour of the county the latter part of April. The state meeting will be held April 10, at CUfty Falls state park. Anyone wishing to attend contact Mrs. Rich DeKalb county Will be hostess to the district meeting which will be held in May, the time and place to be announced later. Officers of the local group for 1956 are: president, Mrs. John Floyd; first vicepresident. Mrs. Erwin Stucky; second "vice-president, Mrs. Claude Leisure; secretary, Mrs. Paul R Rich; and treasurer. Mrs. William Kohls. Committee members will be appointed by the president and names announced later. V. F. W. AUXILIARY HOLDS BUSINESS MEETING A business meeting was held Monday night by the V. F W. ladies auxiliary, with 16 members present. The minutes were read and approved and official communications were read. It was decided that the auxiliary will have a party at the V. A. hospital in Fort Wayne July 5. The next meeting will be nomination and election of officers, March 19. All members are urged to a-ttend this meeting. The district meeting will be held in Decatur, May 6- The district officers will be elected at this time. MISS SYLVIA MAZtLIN WEDS DONALD BLEEKE The Rev. Walter Vetter officiated at the double-ring wedding ceremony of Miss Sylvia Mazelin and Pvt. Donald R. Bleeke, which took place at the Emmanuel Lutheran church Monday evening at 7:15 o'clock. S army MISSION ARY SOCIETY HOLDS RECENT MEETING The Women’s Missionary society of the Church of God met recently in the fellowship basement. The meeting was opened with group singing and Nellie Morrison had charge of devotions. Edna Kirkpatrick and Veda Mitchel led the group in prayer. “Hope for Out Revolutionary World,” was the theme at the. program _ with Edna_ Kirkpatrick in charge. The business meeting was conducted by Veda Mitchel and election of officers was held. Emma Frank closed the meeting with prayer. department of the Decatur Woman’s club was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Clyde Harris. The following officers were elected: chairman Mrs. A- R. Ashbaucher; vice chairman, Mrs. Leo Curten; secretary, Mrs- Helen Jones, and treasurer, Mrs- Joe Kelley. A program on "Modern Jewelry” was presented by John Brecht, and he displayed an assortmant of modem Jewelry and also talked on -diamonds. Mrs. Guy Brown, Mrs. Leo Curten, Mrs. Raymond Eichenauer, and Mrs. Lloyd Cowens then modeled a serving refreshments to the 21 members present by Bernice Nelson, Ifeien Jones, and Mrs. Joe Kelley. BUSINESS MEETING HffLD BY PSI IOTA XI SORORITY Thirty-six members attended the business meeting held by the Psi lota Xi sorority last evening at the Youth and Community Center. Mrs- E. E. Rydell, president, conducted the business meeting and roll was called and_ mtnutes read by Mrs. Betty McNerney- The treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Robert August and correspondence was read by Mrs. Enos Osterman. During the meeting the group decided to donate $5 to the heart fund and 816 to the American Red Cross. It was decided that the meetings will be held on Tuesday night from now on instead of Wed,nesday. Mrs. McNerney won the gift certificate. The next meeting will be April 3 at the Youth and Community Center. The Queen of Peace dlscussfot club will meet with Josephine WoL pert Thursday evening at 8 o’clock. Mrs Huber DeVoss will be hostess to th§ Mary circle of the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Martha circle of the Presbyterian church’ will meet with Mrs. Earl Adams Thursdday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. * The Welcome Wagon club will meet at the Youth and Community Center Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Special entertainment and music is being planned, and everyone in the community Is invited to attend these meetings. The Decatur Girl Scout board of directors will meet Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock In the Girl Scout room of the Decatur Youth and Community Center. Mrs. Max Markltey will speak to the Baptist Missionary, society Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the lower auditorium of the church.

Prosecutor John Tinder described ’Hitch’s testimony as “Interesting'* but said he doubted that law officers would bo able to make much use of R. Hitch has maintained there is “official favoritism’’ in local bambling circles since - he was forced out of business last year when his telephones were removed' at Tinder’s request. A hearing Is scheduled Friday on Hitch’s petition to the public service commission to force Indiana Bell to give him telephones for his ball bond office. Borvks has been refused.
