G. 8. LEADERS CLUB HOLDS RECENT MEETING Nineteen leaders and one guest attended the meeting of the (Jiri Scout Leaders club, which was held recently at the Youth and community Center. Mrs. Byron Smith, president, announced that there will be a round table discussion for Girl Scout leaders Tuesday. March 13, at 1:30 o’clock at the Youth and Community CenterThe group decided that ® girl*“ must belong to the Brownie program for at least one year before they can receive their wings to “fly up” into Girl Scouts. Leaders are reminded to have permission slipa if they leave their meeting place. The Girl Scout cookies will ba delivered March 11 through March 17 and the leaders are asked to have their money to their neighborhood chairmen by March 21- March 11, all Girl Scouts and Brownies will go to church in a body. All Brownies, Girl Scouts, and adults In Girl Scout will give a penny for each year of tbeir age- A representative from each troop will present the pennies during the program. Mrs. Jack Rosenberger will be in charge of the handicraft tables and she will be at the Youth and Com munity Center Saturday, March 17 from 2 until 4 o’clock and the leaders may see that their display is brought, in at this time. MR. AND MRS. HUGO BLAKEY of route five, Decatur, have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Elaine Ruth, to Carl F. Thieme, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles, . Mrs- Ferris Bower has requested that the leaders meet in the Girl Scout room Thursday, March 15, to clean the room. Marion Robinson, proprietor of the Stop Back newstand, announced that he will stock handicraft materials for scouts. Mrs. Reid Erekson explained what goes on behind the scenes of the theater and read an act from a play. The annual Girl Scout leaders luncheon win be held April 5, with the time and place'to be announced later. The committee in Don Jefferies, Mrs- Watson Maddox, Mrs. Don Beery, and Mrs. John Koors. At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served by MrsBrandyberry and Mrs. Winteregg. MRS. VICTOR HAMRICK HONORED AT SHOWER A surprise baby shower was recently held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Sinitley for Mrs. Victor Hamrick- The hostess was assisted by Miss Phyllis Wittwer. Mrs. Selma Inniger, and Mrs. Phyllis Raudenbush. - Games were played and prises were won by Leota Connell, Miriam Sommers. Leona Shook, Bertha Clark. Bertha Zelt. Phyllis Raudenbush, Kate Ulman, Edna Roughia, Goldie Hilyard, Lolo Miller, Rachel Eichorn, and Mrs. John Heimann, who in turn presented them to the honored guest Mrs. Hamrick received many gifts. Those present included Mrs. Goldie HUyard, Bertha Clark, Lola Miller, Kate Ulman, Miriam Sommers, Edna Roughia, Bertha Zelt, Leota Connell, Rachel Eichorn, Leona Shook. MEETING IS HELD BY LITERATURE DEPARTMENT The March meeting of the Literature department' of the Decatur Woman's elub was held at the home of Mrs. O L. Vance with 21 members present. The Dugan conducted the business meeting. The following officers were elected for the coming year: chairman, Mary Jane Saylors; vice-chairman, Mrs. Leo Kirsch; secretary, MrsV. R. Edwards: and fines secretary, Mrs. A. R Holtheuse. The program committee includes Mrs. W Lowell Harper, chairman; Mrs. Edward Cook and Mrs- Benjamin Thomas. , -- An interesting program on the United Nations was presented, by Mrs. Ralph Yager and Mrs. Virgil Sexton. Doan was program leader aWWltea ‘as her subject;’ “Hoosier Poets and Poetry.” She carried her audience through a delightful historical phase of the beginning of poetry and, its arlstlc progress in Hoosierland. She then called on Mrs. Fayne Smith Knapp, who very ably read two of Riley's poems, "Out to Old Aunt Mary’s” and “That Old Sweetheart of Mine”. V During the social hour, Mrs. Cal- ' land served delicious assorted candies to th®, group. ■ — JUNIOR WOMAN'S CLUB HOLDS MEETING MONDAY Mrs. John Combellick was hostess Monday evening to the Junior Woman’s department of the Deca tur Woman’s club. A debate on “Uniformity in Dress at School," was presented to the group by the Misses Shirley Wass and Mara Dee Striker, senior students at the De catur high school. A lengthy dis cussion followed the speeches. The speakers were Introduced by Mrs. Eugene Morrison. During the business meeting which was conducted by the secre tary, Mrs. Floyd Reed in the ab sence of the president and vice president, the organization decided to attend the Delta Theta Tau style show in a group and members are asked to meet at the home of Oaynel Lankenau. The charity baskets were prepared and the theater party was discussed. Two guests were present for the meeting. - •. During the social hour, refresh ments were served by the commit and Mrs. Willlaft Howell. The next meeting will be the theater party in April.’ The Ladies aid of the St- Paul Missionary church will have an all day meeting Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Pete Smith on Jefferson street. The Woman’s Guild of the Zion E. & R. church will meet Wednesday evening following the Lenten services at the church. The Limberlost Trail Riders will meet at the home, of Malcolm Locke on Limberlost Trail, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Anyone interested in Joining the group is welcotte to- come. 7 W S. W. S. unit two of the Bethany E. U- B. church will meet with Mrs. Amos Ketchum Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mrs. Clarence Smith will be the leader. THE ENGAGEMENT OF MISS NORMA PRESLEY to Roger P. Staley, son of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Staley of Decatur, was announced by her mother, Mrs. Frances Presley of Bloomington. The bride-elect is a graduate of University high school and University. JlVhile attending I. U. she was a staff member of the Indiana Daily Student and a member of the Indiana University student foundation. She is presently employed as the wire editor of the Herald-Telephone sh Bloomington. Her fiance was graduated from Decatur high school and Indiana University. He served in the . U. 8. navy during World War 11 and is now a production foreman at RCA in Bloomington. A summer wedding is planned.

nal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hirschy of Decatur. The mother was the former Betty Hirschy. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Seely, Jr-, are the parents of a baby boy born March 1 at the Bloomington hospital, weighing seven pounds and four ounces and named Douglas Daniel. Mrs. Seely is the former Phyllis Chronister of Decatur.

The hostess served delicious refreshments which were enjoyed by all.
