Hugh Eh r man, with Mra- Doyle Myer* and Mrs. Kenneth Niemeyer assisting the hostess. Upon her arrival, the. honored guest was presented with a corsage of yellow jonquils. Various games were played and prises were in turn pr# seated to the honored guest. DECATUR GARDEN CLUB MEETS TUESDAY EVENING The Decatur Garden club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Fred McConnell, with 21 mem bers and the following guests present: Mrs. Harvey Koos and Miss Karen Green of Decatur, and Mrs Carl Hilty and daughters of Berne Mrs. William Kohls presided over the business meeting, which opened with the collect and verse of the month. Plans for the coming state convention at South Bend were discussed. Mrs- Amos Yoder and Mr*" Wesley Lehman will attend as voting delegatee, also Mrs. Hersel Nash in her capacity of state personnel chairman. It was decided to hold the annual flower Show again the early part of June, with a definite date to be announced later. Mrs. Lehman used as her lesson topic “-National Stats Parks,” with emphasis on Yellowstone and the Smokey Mountain parks, Yellowstme park the oldest and Smokey Mountain park the largest east of the Mississippi river.
Door prises were awarded to Mr*.., Hubert Zefkel, Sr-, and Mrs. 0. V Vance. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs Lehman. Mrs Amos Ketchum will be hostess to the March meeting with the place to be announced later. ANNIVERSARY AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED SUNDAY Mr- and Mrs Frank Singleton of route two, Decatur. were pleasantly surprised Sunday with a carry-in dinner to cei*brate their 30th wedding anniversary and Mr. Singleton’s birth'iay. After the dinner was served Mr. and Mr*. Singleton opened the.r lovely gift* and pictures were tgken at generations of Skeletons. Those present for Hie dinner were: Mr and Mrs. Jesse Singleton, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Singleton and daughter* Sandra Joan, Susan Jeanette, e.nd Saran Jay; Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Singleton and son afternoon included Mr. and Mrs. Rayer and daughter Christie. Out of town visitors during the afternoon Inlcuded Mr. and Mrs William Rayer, and Mrs. Milfred Rayer and daughter Chistie. The Westminster choir of the Presbyterian church will practice tonight at 6 o’clock and the senior choir will practice at 6:45 o’clock at the church. Part of the time will be donated to combined rehearsal for both choirs. The annual Lincoln penny breakfast of the W. S. W. S- of the Bethany E. The Dramatic department of the Decatur Woman’s club will meet at the home of Mrs Fred Soldner Monday evening at 8 o’clock The V. F. W. Rotary elebe in Decatur and Berne sponsored all Adams county delegates Otter counties participating included Allen, Huntington. Jay and Wells. The Bluffton Rotary club served as host to over 100 guests present.. Eric pt the state 4-H club office opened the meeting with "Aiming at our target." In the afternoon Holm conducted a panel discussion on “More bands to do the job." Mise Mary Frances Smith, also of Purdue, gave an illustrated talk in the forenoon on “Understanding the boys and girls we work with.” In conclusion Miss Smith presented “A short, short message for '56.” Divided sessions for men and women were held with Hohn and Mise Smith to discuss various subject matter pertinent to 4-H club work. The cooperating Rotary clubs secured Larry Brandon ot Auburn as guest speaker for the noon meal-

The school will be held at the Co-op building at Monroe starting at 1:1S pm. Topics in the discus sion will be crop varieties, crop practices, and fertilisation practices. Also on the program will bo Lee Hill, agricultural engineer, who will discuss "band seeding" and how legume stands can be improved at reduced costs.

Indianapolis Man s Drowning Victim INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — IRob- ; ert J. Smith. 74. drowned Tuesday ! in a foot of water in Bean Creek at the rear of his Indianapolis home. The body was found by big wife, Mary. Smith apparently slipped while cleaning the bank of |he creek and . struck his head on a log. The 'i blow apparently knocked him out 9 and he fell on his face in the water.
