Ten Os Top Prep Quintets Still Running INDIANAPOLIS (INS) —Ten of the 16 teams that made up the final International News Service poll of prep basketball coaches are still in the running tor the 45 th annual IHSAA hardwood tourney title. * Since there was soma overlapping in sectionals in the pioke, the coaches odds are a little better. Hammond f«'olT and Hammond High were rated one-two in that order in the northwest and, of course. High eliminated Noll in one of the first sectional contests. At Indianapolis, Crispus Attucks record breaking defending champions and Tech were rated onefour, in that order, and Tech, like Noll, fell in 'a first game — to Shortridge which eventually lost in the title game to Attucks. Noll and Tech were the only miss in the southwest and defeat of the second-ranked team of the Bloomington area certainly rates as a surprise, if not an upset Hardest hit was the northeast which has only Elkhart alive of the four listed as top dogs on the final pollMissiasinewa’d unbeaten Indians fell at Marion and Kokomo’s Kats ran out of lives again as did the 1955 pack. Huntington also suffered a minor upset The coaches, who have had the title team in the fop four of the home semi-final area each of the last four years, stand a good chance of making it five in a row. Crispus Attucks is a heavy favorite to come in as the first unbeaten prep tourney team in Hoosies history and it heads for southeastern area followed by Anderson and Richmond, either of which has a rider or two as title threats. Seymour, heading the southwest, is no tourney slouch and is considered a favorite, after Attucks,

toy the crowp. Riding in the semi with Seymour are Princeton and New Alband, two more powerladened quintets. Probably the biggest threat to Attucks crown comes from the northweet which has both Hammond and Lafayette headed for a possible showdown in that semifinals. But if these big cate kill themselves Monticello might pull a Milan on the rest of the field. For that matter so might Milan pull another Milan having -won its fourth straight sectional • and ap strong regionally as any other. Milan was not rated this year by coaches, The northeast, naturally, must depend on Elkhart And this is no mean crutch for the Blue Blasers, although suffering a late season loss of pressure, burned brightly for tourney — winning stretches in the season end could be ready to light up the Butler Fieldhouse.
