conference of school administrators. One of the chief reasons that Decatur and Berne can point with pride to their great school systems is because these men keep abreast of educational progress by constantly adding new features to our present splendid educational facilities. Not only will Mr. Brown and Mr. Webb gain from this conference, but every other attendant at the convention also will gain from contacts with these two Adams county educators. , .—* oH—*■ How much more the Elsenhower name would add to the Republican party, if his record of the last three years would have been as outstanding as his reputation as a soldier? Back a few years ago a few baseball fans still idolizing would turn out to see the Chicago Cubs, because of the attraction of two great names in baseball, Sauer and Kiner; but the genuine thrill was gone for a big majority because the great ones had failed to deliver. That same thing could happen next November, even if Ike does run for for a second term. —-fl 0 Death has removed from the services of Northern Indiana Public Service Company and the state of Indiana and from inner circle of a fine family one of Indiana’s top executives. E. D. “Del” Anderson, executive of NIPSCO and a trustee of Purdue University died Saturday at the very peak of his useful life. Mr. Anderson was the capable executive vice-president of the concern which supplies Decatur ajid rgany other Indiana communities with* natural gas. He was equally helpful as a Purdue University trustee. He was graduated from Purdue some thirty years ago where he was a star athlete, with a degree in engineering, and spent his entire adult life with NIPSCO. In recent years he has been a motivating force in the tremendous success of his company. We join his untold number of friends throughout northern Indiana in offering sympathy and condolence to his family at Hammond and to the Utility to which he gave so much.
