Principals Complete Details Os Sectional Tournament In Conn ty
Adame county nigh school principals met this morning with John O. Reed, Adams Central principal and tourney manager, to complete details for the sectional tourney, which opens at the Adams Central gym Wednesday afternoon. Tiokets tor the Wednesday afternoon and night sessions were distributed to the five schools in the upper bracket, and tickets for the Thursday night session were distributed to the tour schools in the lower bracket. A table detailing the number of tickets each school receives is included on today's sports page. Twenty-five tickets go to each school not participating in the session. There are 120 tickets set aside* for the entire tourney for piayers, flaculty managers and coaches, and press and radio. This makes a total <4,300 tickets for t-Jje tourney, with 2,080 going to the five schools in the Wednesday sessions, and 2,056 to the four schools in the Thursday night session. Prices are 80 cents for the two Wednesday sessions, 50 cents for the Thursday session, and >1 for the Saturday semi-finals and finals. Single admission tickets, if any are available, wilt set! for OS, cents, the same price throughout all 64 sectionals in the state, Another distribution of tickets will be made following the Thursday-, night session, to the four Schools' which will compete Saturday. ; SECTIONAL TICKET DISTRIBUTION The distribution of tickets for the Wednesday and Thursday j sessions of the Adams Central sectional tourney was announced today by John O. Reed, Adams Central principal and tourney manager. The distribution la made on an enrollment basis. The management feels that 300 cars can be handled at the rear of the school. During the county tourney, cars were parked well out on the playground field, a practice harmful to school grounds as well as costly to drivers in case of mild weather. It would be advisable to park cars along highway 124 and in Monroe for better and safer terrain. Cooperation of the crowd is asked. Confetti and noise makers are prohibited. Flashlight pictures of the players shall not be taken during the progress of the game, except where photographers use speed light camera. This ruling is meant to protect the vision of the players. Photographers desiring to take pictures shall make previous arrangements with the tourney management. The number of photographers and their location shall be determined by the center school management. Souvenir programs other than those provided by the IHSAA shall not be distributed or sp!d at any tourney, and no other solicitation of advertisement shall he made. Neither the board of control nor the commissioner’s office will approve the distribution of such material at any tourney. Anyone claiming to have such approval Is to be reported to the IHSAA office Im- ' mediately.

Niagara Whips Seton Hall By 97-56 Score By International News Service Niagara blossomed forth as a giant killer Thursday night by whipping Seton Hall, the 12th ranked collegiate basketball team, by a score of 97 to 56. The defeat of the Seton -Hall Pirates gives them a season record of 17 wins and three losses. Little Wheaton college fought off a stall by visiting Lake Forest to post a 40 to 32 victory that kept intact a Crusader winning streak that now has reached 20 games. Little League Will Meet Monday Night The Decatur Little League will meet at 8 o’clock Monday night at the Elks home on North Second street. New officers will be elected for the 1956 season and all officers and managing personnel are re quested to attend. Sell Pleasant Mills Tickets On Monday Glen B. Custard, principal of Pleasant Mills high school, announced today that tickets for the sectional would be sold to all Pleasant Mills season ticket holders starting at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning at the school. Tuesday, the remaining tickets will be sold to those who do not have Reason tick ets. He also announced that tickets would only be available for the sessions when Pleasant Mills will .participate. City Bowling Meet Will Open Saturday The annual Decatur city bowling tourney, sponsored by the city bowling association, will opeq the Mies Recreation alleys Satur day evening at 6:30 o’clock. Two shifts will bowl Saturday and three shifts will roll Sunday. Doubles and singles events will be, bowled Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26. Catholic Quintets Divide With Berne Decatur Catholic school teams divided honors with Berne in a double header Thursday afternoon at the Commodore gym. St. Joseph was defeated by Berne junior high, 47-39. Decatur led at the first quarter, 14-9, but Berne was in front at the half, 24-19, and at the third period, 32-26. Schwartz led Berne with 15 points, and Gage counted 13 for St. JosephThe Commodore C team, finishing its season, defeated the Berne freshmen, 33-21. High School Band To Entertain At Gome Here Tonight The Decatur high school band will again provide pre-game entertainment tonight before the DeeatuaiGarrett tilt. Clint Reed, director of the combined bands, will lead the group in an old time “Swanee River jam session,” which wkll featui* several soloists throughout the various formations Also participating in the program will be a group of Girl Scouts who will form a large heart to the rhythm of a heart beat, and a collection for the heart fund will then be held. Lowell Smith will be narrator for the program, and the costumes and art designs have been planned by Mrs. Roberta Chronister and Miss Kathryn Kauffman, respectively. The manuevers will be closed by a flag ceremony led by several Boy Scouts. Decatur Freshmen I Down Convoy Five The Decatur freshmen defeated the Conwy, 0., freshmen, 54-39, at Convoy Thursday. As of 2 o’clock this afternoon, none of the games had been postponed because of road conditions. Adams Central Lists Tourney Ticket Sales Distribution of tickets for the Wednesday sessions of the sectional tourney for Adams Central students and fans was announced today by John O. Reed, school principal. Student season ticket holders will receive their tickets Monday, and adult season ticket holders will receive their tickets Tuesday morning.
