JERRY KAEHR WINS FIRST PLACE IN MUSIC CONTEST The music contest, sponsored by the Adams county Federation of Clubs, for Adams county children, was held Moifday night at tile Decatur high school. First place was won by Jerry Kaehr, who played the saxaphone- Other winners included second place, Steve Sprunger, drums; and third place, Monica Rumscblag, trombone. The first place jvinner will compete in the district contest which will be held March 24, at the Youth and Community Center, a 19 o’clock in the morning. Judges tor Monday night's contest were Mrs. Stuart Brightwell and Mrs James Kocher, Jr. The winner in the district will receive one week of free training at Indiana University.» y 8080 COMMUNITY GROUP HOLDS RECENT MEETING The Bobo community organisation held their regular monthly meeting recently at tfee -Bobo school. HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB IN RECENT MEETING The Gals and Pals home demonstration club met recently at the home of Mrs Charles Morrison The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Warren Wolfe. A short business session was held, after which the club creed was repeated in unison. Mrs- Roman Sprunger led the group in singing the Song of the month. Mrs. Lowell Noll presented the lesson on “Knowing Your Figure Faults” The books were distributed by the president and two new members, Mrs. Ned Ray and Mrs, Jerry Price, were welcomed into the club. The hostess was assisted by Mrs Jack Longenberger in serving refreshments to the 22 members presentPABT PRESIDENTS PARLEY HOLDS MEETING MONDAY Miss Margaret Biting entertained 44 members of the past presidents parley of the American Legion auxiliary nnit 43, at her home Monday evening. Mrs. Herman Dierkes presided over a short business session. Games were enjoyed during the social hour and prizes were won by Mrs- Ed Bauer, Mrs. Adrian Baker, and Mrs. Clark Flaugh. Walter Bauer of Decatur was dismissed from the Adams county memorial hospital today and was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne.

Services Wednesday At Lutheran Church Hold Two Services On Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday service* will be held at the Zion Lutheran church, with two services Wednesday night; at 7 and 8:15 o’clock. "The Savior Sorrowful in Gethsemane” will be the theme of the pulpit message by the pastor, the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt. The church choir, directed by David Embler, will sing the first chorus of the Lenten cantata, “The Crucifixion," by John Stainer, at the 7 o’clock service only. Holy Communion will be administered after the 8:15 p.m. service. A class of five'candidates will be admitted into membership in the congregation and will make their first communion at this service. The public is invited to attend the Lenten service* at the Lutheran church. The pulpit message* for the Wednesday and Bunday Lenten services at the church are listed elsewhere in today’s Daily Democrat. > Reading Consultant Will Speak To PTA Eldon Johnson, reading consultant for the Scott-Foreaman publishers, will be the featured speaker at the Lincoln school P. Sergent, 29, Monday in her Indianapolis home, today was ruled a suicide Police, summoned by the husband, who hurried home from work when he received no answer to his telephone call, were puttied at first- They found the dead woman’s body on the floor with rope bums about the neck, and a length of clothesline nearby-Five-year-old John Sergent, Jr., had cut the rope, which was tied to a beam, in trying to help his mother. The husband said that his wife had been despondent. The Sergents moved to Indianapolis eight months ago from Hamden, O. (IN8) — St Joseph county today tallied its 14th traffic fatality in the first 46 days of 1956. Worried law enforcement officers noted that in all of 1955 there had been only 28 traffic deaths in the county, and only one by this time. "4 - - The 14 th death this year was that of 89-yeas-old Thomas Oard, of South Bend, who died today in Memorial hospital of injuries suffered when he was hit by a truck as he crossed a local street, Monday. Mrs. H. L. Myers Dies At Terre Haute Mrs. I*. H. Myers, 65, a native of Adams county, died at 1:30 a. mtoday at a hospital in Terre Haute, where she had resided for the past 23 years. Survivors Include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert Cottom and Mrs. Ernie Stewart, and a son, Glen Myers, all of Terre Haute, and a sister, Mrs Ella Ramsey of Monroeville.
