Veteran Actor Dies In California Home ‘ CORONA, Calif. (INS) — Charles Grapewin, veteran actor who played In some of the first motion pictures ever made, is dead of the complications of old age. He was 86. He died Thursday at the Corona home where he lived in retirement. Grapewin made his first picture in New York in 1896. His scores of roles included that of Jeeter Lester In "tobacco Road” and grandpa in “Grapes of Wrath."
