MISSIONARY SOCIETY HOLDS MEETING THURSDAY * avenue missionary society met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Michel. The subject of the leeeon was Shepherd and the Sheth * The scripture lesson was presented by Mrs. Edith Terrell and Mrs Vesta Parker gave a special music number. ' SVogram leader, Mts. Clara Dagae, gave a version of the 23rd Pealm and also "The Social Lite of the American Indian.” The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Parker. An all'day meeting and potluck dinner will be featured at the next meeting. O'Shaugbnessey. VALENTINE MOTIF 18 USED AT CHURCH GUILD MEETING TheWomea'i guild of the Zion Evangelical* and Rffltormed church met Wednesday in the social rooms of the church. The meeting was in the formatff "Valentine Tea.” Mrs. George Thomas, program chairman, gave the lesson and devotions, followed by prayer by Mrs. Wesley Lehman. A piano duet was presented by Mrs. Harold Murphy and Mrs. Edgar Gerber. Mrs. Adolph Weidler gave a reading entitled “An Old Sweetheart of Mine.” The back* ground music was played by Mrs. Robert Houk, Mrs. 8. E. I*eonardson then presented an interesting tallr on “Valentines Through the Years.” She also 'displayed many antique Valentines from her collection. The guests were invited into the beautifully decorated dining room. Presiding at the tea table were: Mrs. Carl Stnckey, Mrs. Fred Corah and Miss Matilda Sellemeyer. The hostess for the evening was Mrs. 8. E. I*eonardson, assisted by Mffc. Agnes Yager and Mrs. Leo Kirsch During the business meeting, which was conducted by Mrs. j James Borders, the group was re-I minded of the world day of prayer to be held Friday, February 17, from 7 until 8 o’clock at the Baptist church, Nazarene church, and the Zion E. and R. church. HELM of New Port Richey, Florida, former residents of this city, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Low, to Benjamin Thomas Hain, son of Mrs. May Hain of New Port Richey, and the late Benjamin T. Hain. Miss Helm is a graduate of Decatur high school and Ball State Teachers College in Muncie. She has been a member of the faculty at Pierce Elementary school in New Port Richey, for the past three years. Her fiance attended schools in North Tonawanda, N. Y., and Johnstown, Pa. He attended Kentucky Military Institute Tn Louisville, Ky., before serving with the U. S. navy. He is presently employed with the Holsum Bakers, Inc., in St. Petersburg. Purdue Experts To Conduct Meeting Roughage Meeting Planned Feb. 16 “Growing, harvesting, storage and feeding of roughage from A to Z M will be featured at a meeting to be held in the Co-op building at Monroe February 16, according to county agent, Leo N. SeitenrighL The program, starting at 10 am. will feature three well known Purdue extension specialists. E. Q, Cannon, dairy; John Foley, Agricultural engineering; and'M. O. Pence, agronomy. “This promises to be a very helpful meeting to all dairymen who are interested in cutting feed and operating costs in milk production. There will be featured: better hay and pasture crops through liming, fertilizing and use of better seeding mixtures.’’ Agronomy specialist M. O. Pence will discuss cost cutting practices with hay and pasture and silage crops. E. A. Gannon, dairy specialist, will feature economical feeding of dairy cows and grazing systems: ■'fetation’’, “ration" and “zero” grazing. Results from Purdue experiments and experiences of Indiana dairymen will be presented. The harvesting of corn, grass and small grains for silage or hay. the making of stack or trench si16s and silage, and labor saving systems of feeding these crops will be-discussed by John Foley. A special feature arranged for the afternoon is a panel discussion by Adams county farmers who will give their experiences in growing and feeding hay, pasture and silage. A general question and answer period will conclude the program. Lunch will be served at a nominal fee at the meeting place. Polio Skate Project Nets $23.50 To Fund A total of 823.50 was contributed to the 1956 March of Dimes as a result of the polio skate-project sponsored by the Happy Hours Roller Rink- Jerry Miller, owner of the Vink, designated two nights during the month of January as polio nights and all proceeds of the two evenings were turned over to the polio fund.
