SPORTS BULLETIN CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Itsly (INB)—Couragaoua Tenley Albright won the Olympic women's figure skating championship today, bringing the United States Its second gold medal of the winter games and a clean sweep of figure skating titles. Wes Santee Faces Test In Wanamaker NEW YORK (INS) —Sajp tee, who can't run around itr circles fast enough to suit himself or U. SOlympic rooters, might be hoofing it against a Melbourne rival at the Millrose Games’ Wanamaker mile Saturday night in Madison Square Garden. The man is Villanova's Ron Delany, a lend-lease Irishman who only last week roared from 30 yards behind to whip Santee in the Hunter mi|e at Boston in 4:06.3. Delany, 20-year-old sophomore from Dublin, probably will be running for Eire at the summer games in Melbourne riext NovemberIn the Hunter last week, Delany wisely refused to join in the early fast pace set by Santee aud had enough steam to pass the marine lieutenant like a sprinter in the last lap. True, the race was Santee's first' in a month, and he was still recovering from a badly pulled muscle. His time of 4:08.3 was remarkable under the circumstances. But Delany is supposed to be a miler who runs Just fast enough to win — whether it be a 4:15 effort or infinitely closer to the once magic '‘four-minute” mark. The Wanamaker should be a fair forecast of what the U- S- scan expect in the 1,500 meter event in Australia. Santee will be in better condition. He will be running against top competition — Delany, Len Truex of the air force and Steady Joe Deady. All three finished ahead of the Kansas flash in the Hunter.
