CIVIC DEPARTMENT ELECTS OFFICERS MONDAY EVENING Tbe Civic department of the Decatur Woman’s club met at the Youth and Community Center Monday evening for their regular meeting. Hostesses for the affair were Mrs. Earl Fuhrman, Mrs. Ralph Smith, lira. Noble Reynolds, Hrs, H. Frohnapfel, and Mrs. Delton Passwator. Election of officers was held with the following elected: Mrs. N. F. Kruse, president; Mrs. Lowel) Smith, vice-president; Mrs. Noble (Reynolds, treasurer; and Mrs. Lu. D. Bracey, secretary. Mrs. Nancy Lengerich was installed as the naw noble grand Others installed were: w (Georgia Kreigh, past grand; Anna Hancher, vicegrand; Clara E- Drum, recording secretary; Clara Meyers, financial Reed, treasurer; HelenCiechty, warden; Evelyn Plasterer, conductor; Leatha Sowards, color bearer; Mildred Keller, chaplain; Opal Myers, musician; Laura Stanley, right supporter to noble grand; Ireta Judt, left supporter; Doria Liechty, right supporter to vice-grand; Maggie Haley, left supporter; Vera Gause, inalde guardian; and Bertha Rose, outside guardian. Mrs. Kreigh presented each of her officers of the past year, with a lovely gift. Mrs Reed and her staff were presented with gifts and Mrs- Kreigh received a past noble grand pin from the lodge. The services closed with prayer by the chaplain and the singing of the song of the year. Following the social hour, members and winners in the membership drive contest were Invited to the dining room- Tbe tables were decorated in a pink and green color theme and a lovely dinner was served by the losing team, as the hostesses. SUNNY CIRCLE CLUB MEETS TUESDAY NIGHT The Sunny Circle home demonstration club of Preble township met at the Preble recreation center Tuesday evening. Mrs. •William . Kruetaman, president called tbe meeting to order after which the club members recited tbe club creed. Mrs. Robert Beery gave the history of the song of the month, "Home On The Range,” after which the group Joined in the ginging of the song. *••»•*< Miss Bertha Landis, home demonstration agent gave a lesson on and Stay Reduced.” A duet, “Just A Song At Twilight,” was sung by Mrs. Otto Hildebrand and Mrs. Robert Beery, accompanied by Mira.' On trial is Sylvan O Dsokard, former Vincennes motorcycle policeman, who allegedly earned unreported income from gambling devices in his Vlneennes tavern Deckard reported a net income of >5,773.06 on bin 194 S rstara when the government claims he actually earper >17,397.06. In 1940, Deckard is accused of evading 86,000 to taxes on an unreported Income of >17,000. Three witnesses took tbs stand during the opening day of the trial Tuesday. Milne, the creator of “Winnie The Pooh”, died Tuesday night after a long Hlness. He was 74. Although he began nis writing career in 1903 and wrote a score of plays and hovels, Milne was best known for his series of ’’Pooh" books, “Winnie The Pooh’’ “The House at Pooh Corner,” “Now We Are Six” and ‘When We Were Very Young.”
