Budgets In Indiana Schools To Increase Survey By Indiana Sees Big Increase BLOOMINGTON. Ind. (INS) — Indiana schools may require a huge budget of |4OO mBUon a year by 1870. according to a survey undertaken by the Indiana University school of business.— Among the forecasts were: ’ Elementary school enrollments will increase by about 15 per cent, high school enrollments will be up from 02 to 72 per cent and university and college attendance will jump from 85 to 165 per cent. The higher enrollments will require 2,500 to 9,000 more public school classrooms, 3,000 to 8,500 additional public school teachers, and 8,000 to 12.00 more college faculty personnel. At present, private and parochial schools serve about 12 per cent of the elementary pupils and about six per cent of the high school students. The survey also included a prediction that Indiana government revenues may be double their pteaent level by 197, but that, even with this hike, a new sales or-in-come tax. to supplement or replace the gross income levy, may also have to be considered. The report also said: “Whereas local governments have become more dependent upon state aid, the state government has become somewhat less dependnt on federal grants. Developments as to federal grants in the future hinge to a large extent on the action of* congress in making federal grants available.” ».{- EDEN SAILS (Continued From Page Ona) .ijnMiMUw* in the U- S to join the five-nation Baghdad defense pact.
