Grand Jury Studies Toll Bribery Record Auditor Rardin Is . Final Case Witness INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — The Marion county grand jury today studied transcripts of testimony in the toll road bribe investigation which ended Tuesday. . Prosecutor John G. Tinder predicted that the jurors would issue a special report late next week concerning the charge that state auditor Curtta E. Hardin sought a bribe from Albert J. Wed eking, director of the Indiana toll road commission. Wedeking said that Rardin, a member of the .state finance board, asked for money to vote for transfer of 170,000 from the state highway commission to the Indiana toll road commission to finance a survey for a proposed north-south pay road. Rardin said he was trying to trap Wedeking but admitted he failed. Rardin waived immunity and testified for nearly three hours Tuesday as the last witness of the investigation. Prosecutor Tinder sadi: "tßardin was a cooperative witness and responded fully to all questions posed by the jury. He was able to clear up several points.” Tinder added that because of Rardin’a cooperation it will not be necessary to bring William E. Sayer to Indian&poiia to testify. Sayer is former executive- secretary to CoVertfbr N'. Craig. - Witnesses during the probe included Craig, Wedeking, Lieut. Gov. Harold W. Handley, state
