Give Preview Os Semi-Final Tourney Gaines INDIANAPOLIS (INS) — The IHSAA release showing no changes in the regional routing of the Indiana prep basketball tourney opens the way for the second guessing. The ballots submitted by qoaches for the weekly International News Service poll give a fairly clear-cut picture of the probable lineups for the semi-final battles. Muncie is headed for Indianapolis again in the move that led to the "game of the year" between Crispua Attucka ultimate state champs and Muncie Central last year. But from all indications this Is not the Bearcats year to get beyond its sectional (if that far). Indications are that Richmond will be down from that regional for the next to last fight. : Another game ■of - the - year is shaping up in the fight for the Indianapolis regional crowh between defending state champion Attucks jmd the sap’tasfi? HThning battle these two put on for the regional title in 1951? Attucks is the current choice to take the regional title from.. Anderson and move in as a possible .opponent of Richmond. Madison is a coaches' favorite for the Columbus regional and Just for kicks (in addition to a good record and good team) why couldn’t Milan take the anybody’s-guess Rushville region•it• ■ —:- The Crispus Attucks Tigers having survived, theoretically at least, the Anderson battle would be favored to win from a field filled with (Richmond, Madison and Milan. The northeastern semi - final games have been shifted from Elkhart to the Fort Wayne Coliseum but coaches currently are inclined to think , the Elkhart Blue Blazers would bum down the barn no matter where they played. Elkhart would have some rough competition for the Fort Wayne crown from Fort Wayne South, figured to win its own regional show, Kokomo and Missiseinewa, unbeaten and better than regional-host Marion in present balloting. A lot of votes will go to Lafayette Jefferson as probable state champions before the 742 schools begin the month-long madness next nipnth and at present no . tea?), seems more likely to represent the northwest in the Butler Fieldhouse next March 17, begorrah. Lafayette’s semi-final hopes will hinge on its ability to dispose of Hammond Noll, 'which won two holiday shows and moved a hair’sbreadth ahead of Hammond high in coaches opinion. In the semi-battle with Lafayette and Noll, judging by coaches ballots, will be Monticello out of Logansport and probably Clinton from Greencastle. The Bloomington semi - final scramble shapes up as a toss-up between unbeaten Princeton (Evansville winner) and once-beaten Seymour (Jeffersonville winner). Martinsville's regional entry now is about even between Terre Haute Garfield and the host school and the Huntingburg victor should come from Vincennes, Washington, Jasper, Huntingburg. Sullivan, etc..

Both were timed in 1:58.8 but after lengthy consultation among the judges, Spurrier — who holds the world 880 record of 1:47.5 — was adjudged the winner "officially by inchea." Landy, w-ho set the world mile mark of 3:58 flat at Turku, Finland. in the summer of 1954, declared after the race that he was all the more serious now about a comeback and would go into intensive training for the quadrennial games. He immediately planned competition at his mile specialty distance and said he would enter a race
at the Olympic Park in about three weeks. Landy, *ho claimed his appearance for the meet Wednesday was "nothing more than a training run.” said his legs were mildly sore after the race but that he felt no ill effects. In another performance that was remarkable on a soggy track, Bob burrow of Abilene Christian college ran the 100-yard dash in 9.4 seconds, just one-tenth of a'second off the world record. Morrow later won a 220-yard dash in 21.9 seconds. ' Party O’Brien of lob Angeles,' the world shot put record holder, set new Australian records in both the shot put and discus.
