Annual Meeting Os Church Held Sunday Report Attendance Increase In 1955The annual congregational meeting of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed chntch was held Sunday morning in the church, following a memorial service for the six adult members and three infants who died during the year 1955. noted In hla report that January 15 j he would complete hip 18th year as pastor of the local congregation and that June 2$ he would observe the 25th anniversary of his ordination, into the Christian, ministry. The pastor also noted that both Sunday echoed and church attendance had increased during the past year. Members lost during the year exceeded by, five the number of new members received. This was due in part to the number of families that have moved away from Decatur and have transferred their membership to churchea where they reside. Communicant membership of the church now stands at 524. Reporting on his own activities the pastor noted that more than 1,000 pastoral calls had been made,

Mrs. Adolph Weidler. serving as recording secretary of the congregation, read the minutes of previous meetings during the year and recorded the business of Sunday’s meeting. Ned Johnson, secretary of the official board, read the annual import of the treasurer, Fred Kolter. Luther Cla.se presented the budget for 1956, amounting to nearly 317,000, which was accepted by the congregation. Salaries for 1956 were Increased five percent. Election of officers resulted in Edward Jaberg and George Thomas being elected as elders for two year terms; Fred Brokaw, Leroy Cable, Robert Cole,, Fred Corah and Victor Klees elected as deacons for two year terms; Rufus Kirchhofer elected to serve a three year term as trustee. These men, with elders Gottlieb Stauffer and J. Henry Graber; deacons, Wayne Burger, Doyle Franz, Milton Hannle, Laures Meyer and Jamee Stauffer: trustees, Robert Ashbaucher and Luther Clase; Sunday school superintendent, Laverne Roth, Women’s Guild president, Mrs. James Borders, treasurer Fred Kolter ■ and the pastor will constitute the official board for 1956. Clarence Snyder served as chairman of the tellers for the elections and was assisted by Wilbur Robinson, Charles Daniels, Robert Kershner, Gilbert Egly, Robert Ashbaucher and Elmer Lautenschlager. An auditing committee composed of Richard Linn, Benj. Eichenauer and James Hunter was appointed to audit the books of-the

financial Secretary-treasurer. The newly elected elders and deacons will he installed during the worship service next Sunday morping. Those who have not held their particular office previously will also be ordained. Attendance Drive In Local Churches Nine Churches Seek Attendance Boost Nine Decatur churches, , members of the Associated Churches of Decatur, had an attendance of 1.681 last Sunday in the first Sunday of a series set aside to increase attendance of Sunday services. The attendance drive will continue to Easter Sunday, April 1. Each member church is asked to designate someone to call the attendance total to the Methodist church office, not later than the following Monday afternoon. Figures will be published each week.
