Two Army Privates Cleared Os Charges Pair Acquitted By Army Courtmartial BERLIN (INS) — Two army privates charged by the Soviets with beating up an East German cabaret performer were acquitted today by a U. S. army courtmartial. Pvt. Willie A. Holden. 19, of Poplarville, Miss., and Pvt. Richard Calbert, 22, of Kansas City, Mo., had been tried on charges of disorderly conduct in the Soviet sector of Berlin. A special court of six officers heard Holden and Calbert as well as a German refugee woman tell how night club artist Werner Lierck attacked Holden on Dec. 7 in front of an East Berlin bar. Holden said Lierck called him an "American swine” and Calbert said, the entertainer pushed him aside when he tried to grab Holden. The defense counsel for the privates praised Holden for restraining himself when the East German called him a “pig." and said he had swung in self-defense.
