Two Accidents Are Reported In County Two accident* were reported in | the county by sheriff, Merle Aftolder. James Whitaker of Decatur' overturned his car in an attempt to I kepe from hitting another car. He was coming into Decatur from the south on highway 27, when an unidentified car stopped in front of him. Whitaker applied his brakes end went intp a skid. He slid into a ditch and then into a concrete | abutment. The ear was completely demolished, but Whitaker was unhurt. The accident occurred a* 5:30 p. m. about Three miles south of Decatur. Vehicle* driven by Donald Pierce of Lima, Ohio, and Richard G. of Patsdam; Ohio, were involved Im an accident at the intersection of state highway 116 and US four miles, west, of Berne at U a. m. Friday. Pierce’s vehicle had S3O iu estimated damages and the Land!* car bad SSO in damages. Landis was arrested for failure to yield the right of way. Farmers Complain 01 Seed Salesman Selling Seed Oats Above Normal Price Adams county farmers have complained recently of a highpowered seed salesman operating here. The man is selling seed oats for approximately $3.50 a bushel, A check at the office of county agent Leo Seltenright revealed that the price is about twice as high as most approved seed oats for this area. The oats being sold by the itinerant is not on the list of seeds approved by the Purdue University extension department. Seltenright urged all farmers who are contacted by the salesman to check with his office before purj chasing any of the seed. " The salesman approaches the. farmer with a story that Ms neighbor has bought sufficient seed for five acres to test it and suggests that the prospect do the same. The seed sold In such a manner is not worthless, it was pointed out. but it is not approved as a seed for this area, and the price is regarded as out of line with present day prices. £ SUN. & MON. Fred E. Speicher, rural route one, Fort I Wayne, was arrested for improper license plate registration. A. M. Taylor, Jr., and Jed L. Davis, both of Fort Wayne, were arrested for exceeding the state speed limit. All will appear in justice of the peace court later.
Report Altercation Late Friday Night As the result of an altercation in a local restaurant late Friday night, Joe Schindler. Decatur, was arraigned in mayor’s court todayon a charge of disorderly conduct. He pleaded not guijty and trial fra* set for 10 o’clock Monday morning. r Schindler’s bond was set at 1200 ’ and he had not been able to pro- ’ vide bond by noon today. The other’ 1 participant, Robert Bebout. was ’ in Adonis county memorial hospital for-treatment. A Lutheran Choir To Sing Two Anthems Observing the fourth Sunday in 1 advent, the 35-voice choir of Zion Luthelran church. Spring Semester To Open February 6 Tfrenty-five people from Decatur ire among the 1.037 students enroifed this semester at the Indiana r University Wrt Wayne Center. There are 13,737 students taking work this semestre at the University's 10 off-campus centers wkich represents an Increase of three per cent over last fall’s enrollment figure. The nupfber of credit hours carried by these students has increased nine per cent. The spring semester in the offcampus centers, which are located in Gary, South Bend. Indianapolis, Richmond.
