More of the same is the forecast for the next few days, weath-er-wise in Adams county. This means belowa verage temperatures and some snow flurries. It’s December, however, and the cold temperatures are to be expected. 0 0 **■ •tt According to a report through the London Daily Mail, an other shake-up is soon to occur in Russia. We don’t know the details but we have an idea that it won’t improve conditions so far as the east and west are concerned. —4o —ek— Home owners are reminded that it’s a pretty tough job for birds to get food during the cold winter months unless a few crumbs are tossed out in the yards for their sustinence. In the summer time these little feathered friends are worth their weight in gold, eating insects which otherwise would cause lots of damage. —4O 5 Hoover Hunt, well-known Decatur automobile mechanic and operator of a repair garage in the west part of Decatur has announced that his firm will be the Adams county agent for Hudson • automobiles. Mr. Hunt is well known in the auto repair field and his decision to assume a dealership of the Hudson line of automobiles has met with general approval of his many friends. 0 0 Adams county’s able prosecuting attorney, Lewis L. Smith has brought a distinct honor to Adams county and himself by being elected vice-president of the Indiana Prosecutor’s association. If precedent of the organisation is followed the local man will head the state group in 1958. Prosecutor Smith has done an excellent job during his three years in that office and he has been rewarded by state-wide recognition as an outstanding and efficient official. 0 0 The Merry-go-Round, published by Drew Pearson says the investigation of the New York Times by the Senate Internal Committee has the earmarks of a McCarthy witeh-hunL The Times is recognixed as one of the world’s greatest newspapers. members of the Time staff may cause the committee to reognixe their duties to the newspaper and to the nation. 0 0 The Decatur Chamber of Commerce is ending one of its most successful years. Membership in the Decatur organisation is at its peak and the various divisions have had interesting and profitable years. We congratulate the various officers and members on their many achievements of good in the community. 0 0 Residents of Strattoh Place are arranging a trash collection in that area every week. Rds a most commendable action and we hope that the idea will take root, so that there will be a similar collection of trash throughout the city. Perhaps once a week is too often, but bi-weekly or monthly would be a great improvement. 0 0 Evidently the recent examination of President Eisenhower’s heart by the experts was not as hopeful as was desired by every citizen of this nation and by many all over the world. It seems to have shown that the strenuous efforts of the President the past week or two had tired him out some and made it necessary for the doctors to advise greater care for a couple of months. We sincerely hope the report causes the President to conserve his health for the good of himself, —-this nation and the-- world. —o —o The weekend brought several deaths in this part of the state, due to automobile accidents. One that caused much sorrow over the terßlqjif wis that in which Rev. Sebastian Kremer, pastor of the Precious Blood Catholic Church at Fort Wayne and his cousin Mrs. Katherine Stein, 81. which occurred late Saturday afternoon near Celina, Ohio, were killed. They were enroute to Chickasaw, Ohio to attend the funeral of a cousin, Frank Kremer. Their car was struck by another car driven by a 16-year-old lad, Jan Mathews of Ohio City who was also badly injured. Such accidents cause great sorrow and again point out the necessity for everybody to be carefully watchful when driving these days.
