—'—r : OFFICERS ARE ELECTED AT RECENT MEETING The Women’s Missionary society of the First Baptist church met in the parsonage recently with Mrs. Wilbur Stanley In charge of devotions?'The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Bryce Daniels, president. s Election -of officers was held and the following officers were elected: president, Mrs. Bryce Daniels; vice - president, Mrs. John Mays; secretary, Mrs. Weldon Soldner; and treasurer. Miss Lois Metzger. "The Birth and Childhood of Jesus Christ," a filmstrip, was presented by Mrs. Stuart Brightwell. A humorous playlet on increasing interest in missions, was presented by Mrs. Warren Lehman, Mrs. Homer Reace, Miss Lois Metzger, Mrs. Bryce Daniels, Mrs. John Mays, Mrs. Grover Levy, and Mrs. Ed Lobsiger. Instead of.having a gift exchange this year, each memi>er donated 60 cents which will be sent to the East Side Christian Center in Indianapolis. This is the Baptist work among the Negroes in Indianapolis. •Refreshments were served from a decorated table and the centerpiece consisted of a dozen red carnations and lighted red tapers. Mrs. Alva Baker served and Mrs. Stuart Brightwell poured. Hostesses included Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Grover Levy, and Miss Alicia There were present at the meeting. v < WOMEN’S GUILD HOLDS RECENT MEETING The meeting of the Women's guild of the Salem E. and R. church was opened 1 with an organ-piano prelude. Mrs. Irvin Worthman read the "Christmas Story," and Christmas carols were then sung. Miss Helen Reppert and Miss Diane Sheets song “Away In the Manger," and "O Little Town of Bethlehem,” with Mrs- Gerhard Witte giving the origin of these carols. Miss Ruth Beery sang "Silent Night,” with Mrs- Otto Hildebrand giving the history of this carol. A duet was sung by Mrs. Freeman

The table was decorated with flowers and a ' three-tier birthday cake topped ' with imported doll candles. During ' the. afternoon games were played and prizes were awarded to Wanda Painter and Jean Aesehliman. Music was also enjoyed throughout the party.
