COUPLE TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Sunday, December 18, Mr. and Mrs. Ernset Massey of Hartford City, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with their family and friends. They were married December 20, 1906. The couple has one living daughter, Mrs. Truman Goldner of this city. One son, Clinton Michael, is deceased. They have seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step grand-children, and eight step great-grandchildren. MIBS CAROLYN HAKES IS MARRIED SATURDAY Saturday evening at 6:30 o’clock, Miss Carolyn Hakes became the bride of Tom A. Ruble in a dou-ble-ring ceremony which took place at the Union Chapel United Brethren church. The Rev. L. T. Norris officiated for the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mts. Harold D. Hakes of Ohio City, 0., and Mr. and Mrs. Romey F. Ruble of near Monroeville. The church was adorned with candelabra, and baskets of pink gladiolus. The musicale was presented by Mrs. Earl Chase, organist, and Richard Hakes cousin of the bride, vocalist. Selections played were: "Indian Love Call,” "Oh Promise Me,” "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Love,” and ”1 Love you Truly,” was played during the ceremony. Selections sung included “Because,” “The Wedding Prayer,” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” as the couple knelt at the altar. ■ The bride’s gown was chantilly lace and net over satin. The bodice was fashioned with a scalloped yoke and a mandarin collar. The skirt was very full with panels of chantilly lace in the front and back. Her fingertip veil was caught to a matching clip crown with pearls and rhinestones. She carried a white Bible topped with pink rosebuds and white streamers. Miss Connie Hakes attended her sister as mald-of-honor in a ballerina length gown of royal blue velvet. The gown was styled with a V-point neckline and a princess stlye skirt. Her headpiece” was of blue velvet flowers and she carried a nosegay of pink rosebuds with silver streamers. Roxy Ruble attended his brother as best man and ushers included Gene £3chlemmer and Russell Plumley. ; For her CmbtelXllß'WJßS Mrs. Hakes chose a gray dress with black accessories and the bridegroom’s mother wore a light blue dress With brown accessories. They both wore corsages of pink mums. The reception was held in the church basement following the ceremony. The three tiered wedding cake was cut by Miss Shirley Workinger and servers included the Misses Mary Pancake, Judy Ruble, Marilyn Foor, Ann Ruble, and Mrs. Wilbur Foor, and Mrs. Robert Workinger. Miss Bonnie Simons had charge of the gift book. For traveling, the ride changed into a gray knit suit with black accessories and she wore the corsage from her bridal bouquet. After a wedding trip of unannounced destination, the couple will reside in Monroeville. WORK AND WIN CLASS HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY Thirty members and friends of the Work and Win class of Trinity E. U. B. church met Friday evening for their Christmas party at the church. The singing of Christmas carols opened the meeting. The scripture was read by Mrs. John Chaftrbers and prayers were offered by Hubert Gilpen, the Rev. John Chambers, and Mrs. Fannie Hitchcock. Clarence Drake was in charge of the business meeting. The auction for the Otterbein home brought $34. Lunch was served from tables arranged in the form of a Cross, which were adorned with Christmas decorations. Hostesses for

Eileen Brames Is Married Recently To George Morton Miss Eileen Brames, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brames of Monroeville, was recently married to George Paul Morton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Morton of Monroeville, in the St. Rose Catholic church with the Rev. Konciela officiating for the double-ring ceremony. t The musical was presented by Paul Schall and the adult choir. Miss Ruthann Sorg attended the bride as maid-of-honor in a waltzr length gown of antique green crystalette. She carried a bouquet of gold mums. John Morton, brother of the bridethe evening were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Garner and Mr. and Mm. Manley Foreman. CHRISTMAS PARTY IS HELD BY WOMEN OF THE MOOSE On December 1, the Women of the Moose held their Christmas party at the Moose home. A potluck supper at 6:30 o’clock featured the beginning of the evening’s festivities. After the supper, the group was entertained with a reading about Christmas by Anna Myers, several musical selections and songs by Edna Davidson. The group sang Christmas songs and carols with Vera Gause presiding at the piano. Later in the evening Santa Claus and his helper distributed gifts and candy to the members. The W. S. W. S. of Union Chapel church will meet at the church Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Members and their families are urged to attend. Mrs. Lawrence Norris will have charge of the service. A rummage sale, sponsored by the Eagles auxiliary, will be held Friday and Saturday on the second floor of the Eagles building formerly occupied by the Vogue Beauty shop. Plenty of winter clothing and also an ample amount of good clothing will be available. Anyone having clothing to donate is asked to the chairman, Mrs. Robert Witham, at 3-2590. The W. M. A. of the Nuttman Avenue church will meet at the parsonage Thursday at 10:30 a. m. for a potluck dinner. The Friendship Clrc'.e of the Missionary church will have a Christmas party and gift exchange Friday evening at 7:30 o clock at the home of Mrs. Herald Welty. The regular meeting of the Little Flower Study Club, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed. W. S. W. S. unit three of the Bethany E. U. B. church will meet Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the church. All senior Girl Scouts are invited to attend the song fest in the home ec room of Decatur high school, Tuesday afternoon immediately after school, at 3:30 o’clock. The Town and Country home demonstration club will meet at the home of Mrs. Lewis Rumschlag Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Ray> former residents of Decatur, are the parents of a baby girl born at the Marion general hospital Sunday, weighing seven pounds and named Gayle Jeannlne. Mrs. Ray is the former Miss Doris Jones. They have one other child, Evelyn Marie. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stouder of Decatur are the parents of a baby girl born Sunday wt 10:60 a, B>., weighing eight pounds and six ounces. Vernal Alexander has sold his farm near Yoder and purchased a tract of seven lots a mile south of Ossian. He will build a modern home there and offer the other lots for sale, it is reported. Mrs. H. B. Heyman of Willshire township, across the Ohio state line, has returned from a several weeks visit in Los Angeles, Calif., with her daughter, Mrs. James H. Grants Recount Os Huntington Votes Judge Burr Glenn of Huntington has sustained the petition of Devon Blackburn, Republican, candidate for mayor of that city who was defeated by Roy Howell, Democrat, in the recent election by 47 votes. The judge appointed Donald A. Klepper and Vaughn Mickley, Republicans, and Ray Ade, Democrat, as commisioners to conduct the recount and report back to him whose duty it then is to decide the contest. Klepper is a son of William Klepper of this city and lived here until a few years ago.
