FAMILY GATHERING IS HELD RECENTLY A family gathering was held recently at the home of Mrs. Ethel Birch honoring her son, Ruesell, who is home from Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., on a furlough, and also a grandson, Donald Strode, who is home from the navy. A dinner was held at noon and the afternoon was spent visiting, taking pictures and playing games. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Fratie Strode and family from Onarga, Ill.; Mrs. Gladys Welchman and Mr. and Mrs. William Welchman and family from Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wable and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Birch and family all of Decatur; Mr. and Mra Harvey Birch and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Fennig and family, all of Monroe, the honored guests, Russell Birch and his wife Betty, and Donald Strode. Those unable to attend Were Gus Welchman, Donna Ketrick, and Kevin Bi ch. CHURCH GROUP HOLDS 4 MEETING THURSDAY * The Pleasant Mills Methodist W. S. C. Davis read the scripture. "Through the Centuries,” a playlet, was given by Mrs. Edith Bailey, Mrs. Harvey Jones, and Mrs. Donald Everett. During the business meeting, pains were completed for the Thanksgiving supper of turkey and- ham, which will be served in the church basement from 5 to 7 o’clock Tuesday evening. Mrs. George Foor read a story of Thanksgiving for the special feature. The meeting was then closed with prayer by Mrs. Harvey Davis. Refreshments were served to 14 members and three children present, by Mrs. Harlen Jones and Mrs. Bill Watkins. NURSES ASSOCIATION HOLDS MONTHLY MEETING RECENTLY The* Adams county nurses association held a monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Clyde Sprunger in Berne recently. A representative of Eli Lilly company showed interesting film on the origin and manufacture of drugs. During the business meeting it was decided to donate $lO to the school for the mentally retarded children at Vera Cruz. Election of officers was held and results are as follows: president, Eloise Noll; vice-president, Velma Smith; secretary, Thelma Flueckiger; treasurer, Elvia Lehman. Refreshments were served to 31 nurses present by Mary Jane Kirsch, Ann Sponger, Velma Smith, Btfnnie Neuenschwander, Neola Luginbill, and Zilla Sprunger. Plans are being made for the Adams county nurses to make a tour of the Eli Lilly company in the spring. FEDERATION OF CLUBS TO GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS Two music scholarships for each of the 13 districts will be presented this year by the Indiana Federation of clubs, the board of directors announced, following an official board meeting which was held in Fort Wayne recently. Mrs. Henry Humphrey of Osgood, state president, stated one scholarship would be given to a voice student and the other for instrumental music. Formerly, one scholarship was presented annually by each district to a high school dentThe board also announced plans for a fund raising project by the juniors, to buy an intercommunication system for bne of the state

A4/ss Phyllis Omlor Weds This Morning In Church Ceremony Miss Phyllis Jean Omlor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome J. Omlor of 916 Jackson street, became the bride, of, Edward L. Heidenreich, son of W. A. Heidenreich and the late Mrs. Heidenreich of Fort Wayne, this morning at 9 o’clock in the St Mary’s Catholic church. The Rev. Robert Contant officiated for the dpublering ceremony. The musical was presented by Sr. Margaretta and the girls’ choirThe church was adorned with altar vases and two bouquets of white chrysanthemums. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in an ice blue satin gown fashioned with a waltz-length over skirt of pleated tulle and a boat neckline. Her fingertip veil was caught to a half queen’s cap. She carried a colonial bouquet of white pompons. • Miss Patricia Omlor, sister of the bride, attended as maid-of-hon- , or. in a gown of. catillion blue crystalette and tulle fashioned with a shawl collar and pleated bodice mental hospitals. Funds already have been raised by some districts to buy candy for a state mental hospital each month. Meeting dates schedules for the near future include the mid-winter council and board meeting, February 9, at Indianapolis. An afternoon session, with reports from department chairmen and die-' _trict presidents, will be held followed by a dinner meeting featuring a guest speaker. At 8 o’clock in the evening, the official board meeting will take place. The "Fine Arts Breakfast,” in Block’s Tea room will be held Feb. 10 at 8:30 am. ’ The Mississippi Valley conference has been scheduled for March 1-2, at the Schreader Hotel in Milwaukee, Wis. Mrs. Claude Steele of Knox, is president of the conference, which includes 12 states. AH department chairman of the federation are urged to attend. The Junior Arts department of the Decatur Woman's club will meet Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the home of Barbara Kalver. Rex Halberstadt celebrated his eighth birthday at a party given by his mother, Mrs. Pauline Halberstadt. Refreshments were servey to Becky and Deanne Werling, Tom and Pamela Hbblet, Jom and Sandy Byer, Terry and Sandra Marker, Marilyn Vizard, Max and Doug Halberstadt, Mike Beery and Eddie Daniels. Wayne Kellams of Indianapolis, assistant director of public relations for the Indiana toll road commission, will be the speaker at a meeting Monday evening at Geneva of the Lions cjub. DeVoti Blacklburn, Republican candidate for mayor of Huntington, who was defeated by Roy Howell in the election November 8, has filed two recount petitions in Huntington circuit court, as required by law. GIRL.SCOUT Girl scout troop one met at the Youth and Community Center Thursday evening. The snowflakes opened the meeting. We finished our cooking badge and discussed the basic seven. We decided to start working on the hospitality badge. The troop made rules. We

Rural Youth Banquet•Saturday, Nov. 26 The theme of the Adams county rural youth banquet and dance scheduled for Saturday evening, November 26, has been announced as ’’Snowman JanTboree.” The banquet and dance will be held at the Youth and Community Center in Decatur, beginning at 6:30 p m. The 1956 officers of the local club will be installed during the banquet program. Anyone interested in the rural youth program is invited to attend. Gibson, 21, of New Haven route two, was struck in the rear by a car driven by Gerald P. Grote, 18, Decatur rotate five. Grote was going west following Gibson. Grote stated that he though Gibson was going to make a left turn into the station so he applied his brakes and went into a skid. MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM NOLL of Pleasant Mills will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, November 27, with the reception to be held in the Pleasant Mills Methodist church basement. Open house will be observed from 1 o'clock to 4 O’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Noll were married November 30, 1905, in Willshire, O. The Nolls have 12 living children and they are as follows: Gerald Noll of Antwerp, 0., Lawrence Noll of Geneva, Mrs. Winston Rawley of Decatur, Mrs. Arney Anspaugh of Bryant, Mrs. Claud Hemlinger of Fort Wayne, Lowell Noll of Pleasant Mills, Miss Vivian Noll of Rome, N.
