Announce Merger Os Two Top Herds Pickett And Yost Herds Are Merged The merger of two of America’s leading herds of purebred Landrace hogs has been announced by owners Bernard Pickett of Noblesville and C. L Yost of Decatur. The new partnership will combine the foundation breed stock of Pickett’s Breezy Knob farm and Yost’s Kekionga farm. The herd will be kept at the Kekionga farm, near Decatur, where additional facilities are under construction to provide one of the nation's largest and most modern Landrace breeding establishments. Pickett and Yost have 100 registered sows on the farjn now' being bred for spring farrowing. Some of these will be offered in their first public auction sale scheduled at the farm s newly remodeled sales pavilion next February 6. Quality will be emphasized in all breeding operations of the partnership, both Pickett and Yost have stated. Their herd will carry the best of all popular Landrace bloodlines, including" Beltsville, lowa, Indiana. Missouri, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Yost is a noted Indiana contractor and builder, and the owner of a nationally known herd of purebred Angus cattle. He added registered Landrace to his farm operations several years ago and built up an outstanding herd. Since 1934, Pickett has been in the hatchery, feed and farm service business in Noblesville. He is one of the pioneer Landrace breeders in America, helped organize the American Landrace association in 1950 and served two terms as national president of the organization. At the present time he is a director in both the state and national Landrace associations. Pickett has leased his business building in Noblesville. Mr. and Mrs. Pickett plan to move to Decatur as soon as the construction of their new home is completed in Park View near the Lanarace headquarters. Trade in a Good Town — Decatur

Everything was burning except the tail section of the plane.” Marty McCormick, another Boeing employe, said he was about four blocks from the crash. He said flames leaped 75 to 100 feet in the air. He said he helped give first aid to about 15 soldiers who were apparently thrown clear of the wreck. The home hit by the plane was occupied by the family of Dearing, 33. He was not home but his wife, Mary Agnes, 31, with the fcelp of neighbors, brought their five small children out. The children range in age from eight years old to nine months. Mrs. Charles Platt, the Hearings’ next door neighbor, helped in the rescue and also haved her own daughter. Ambulances and crash wagons from the airport were hampered as they sped to the scene by Icycovered roads. /_ Seattle had > snowfall of four inches Thursday and traffic in and ground the city was already snarled before the crash.
