DO-YOUR-BEST CLASS HOLDS RECENT MEETING The Do-Your-Best flags of the Trinity E. U. B. church met Thursday evening for their regular meeting. Mrs. John Gage group in devotions and presented th© lesson “Breaking of the Bread." She closed with prayer. Mrs. Ralph Roop read a poem entitled "Our Father.” The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs s Ralph Roop. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and it was reported that 57 cards and 30 calls were made during the last month. Mrs. Alvin Fennig expressed her thanks for the cards and flowers during her recent convalescence. The committee for the November meeting includes devotions, Mrs. Wilson Reed; special, Mrs. Homer Bittner; program committee, Marie Deßolt and Mrs. Frank Clingenpeel; and hostesses. Mrs. Blanche Mumma, Mrs. Anna Myers, and Mrs. Winford Ray. Mrs. John Gage and Mrs. Bertha Hakey were in charge of the program for the meeting and several games and contests were enjoyed. Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Shafer. Hostesses for the eventing included Mrs.

Frank Kitson, Mrs. Nina Light, and Mrs. Earl Mounsey. W.S.C.S. CELEBRATES 15TH ANNIVERSARY WEDNESDAY The Pleasant Mills Methodist W. S, C.' S. celebrated their sth anniversary With a candle light service Wednesday evening at the church. The dining room was beautifully' decorated and the meeting was opened with a prelude by Mrs. Leland Ray. Mrs. Harlen Jones palled the meeting to worship and offered prayer, followed by the lesson for the month. Prayer was then offered by Mrs. George Foor, who was awarded a gift for being the first president of the society. Following the business meeting, refreshments were served to 21 members, two children, and three guests. Guests included Mrs. Harry Crownover, Mrs. Ben McCullough, and Mrs. Nefia Jones.. Hostesses were Mrs. R. H. Everett, Mrs. George Foor, and Mrs. Luther Sovlne. NURSES ASSOCIATION HOLDS RECENT MEETING Fourteen members were present for tne meeting of the Adams county nurses association w'hich was held last evening at the home of Margaret Eiting. John Kenwood
of the Maico 1 hearing aid service in Fort Wayne spoke to the group and explained the use of the audiometer. The business meeting was conducted by Betty Bixler. At the close of the meeting, a luncheon was served by Margaret Eiting, Mary Colfer, Eleanor Dahnke, Fern Dierkes, and Edna MJey/ers. Decorations throughout were carried out in the Halloween theme. EMMAUS GUILD IN MONTHLY MEETING The Emmaus guild of Zion Lutheran church held their monthly meeting in the parish hall Wednesday evening. The devotions were read by Mrs. Mary Nelson. Several chairmen reported on committee activities. Six guests were present. Rev. Edgar Schmidt led the topic discussion. The subject "That I May Be His Own.” A quiz was held and prizes won by Mrs. Lloyd Conrad and Mrs. Oscar Bieberich. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Walter Brodbeck and Mrs. Waldo Marbach. PINOCHLE CLUB HOLDS HALOWEEN PARTY The Pinochle club met last evening at the Hanna-Nuttman shelter house for a masquerade party. The evening began with a wiener roast and later a white elephant pinochle was enjoyed. The Halloween theme was carried throughout the room. Hostesses for the evening were: Florence Engle and Clarice Porter. Prizes were won by Goldine Magley, Margaret Ashbaucher, and Esther Friend. Vera Hajnmond, a guest, won the traveling prize. The November meeting will be a Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Gladys Keller, with Florence Engle furnishing the prizes. The Union township home demonstration club will meet Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Earl Chase with Mrs. Nile Williamson as assistant hostess. Election of officers will be held and all members are urged to be present. Tuesday at 1 o’clock the Root township home demonstration will meet at the home of Mrs. Gust Bohnke. The Rub and Naomi circle of the Zion E. and R. church will meet at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the church. The parent and family. night, formerly mother’s study will meet Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the Monmouth school. »The> American Legion auxiliary unit 43 will have a membership drive Monday. The helpers are asked to meet at the Legion home at nine o’clock in the morning. A luncheon will be served at noon. Any "woman or girl who is eligible to become a member of the American Legion auxiliary, and who will not be at home to be contacted should call Mrs. Wilson Beltz. I 3-8643. The St. Anne’s study club will meet at the kome~of Mrs? Mathias Coffee Tuesday evening at 7:39 o’clock. The members of the Rebekah lodge will hold a regular meeting Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the Odd Fellows hall. The Three Link club will meet after lodge, with entertainment and refreshments being furnished by the October committee.
The Delta Lambda and Xi Alpha Xi chapters of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will hold a joint social meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Neal of 1103 North Second street at 8 o’clock. A special interest lesson on "Making Noodles” will be given at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday, at the 4-H kitchen in Monroe. Mrs. Tilman Bauman of Berne will demonstrate how to make, dry, and cut the noodles; as well as some tasty recipes using the finished product. Mrs. Bauman has won several prizes and awards on her noodles at the Berne farmers’ institute. The lesson is sponsored by the Adams county home demonstration association. Everyone interested in learning new techniques bn making noodles is to attend. Hanna-Nuttman park will be the scene of a meeting to be held by the Church Mothers study club Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Members are asked to attend masked. The Adams county chorus me: at the Farm Bureau building at Monroe recently for practice. Reports for a trip to Florida, April 2, were revealed for the first time. All the county choruses of Indiana

Mrs. Martin Huser and Mrs. William Reichert of route one, Monroe, were admitted to the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne Monday evening for surgery. Both are in room 408. Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Kohne visited with their son, Michael, at East Lansing, Mich., last Saturday at the Notre Dame Vs Michigan State football game. Michael sang with the Notre Dame glee club at Michigan State University, at a concert in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Voglewede will return home this evening after a trip to Washington, D. C., where Voglewede attended a fourday convention of trucking companies of America. They also visited his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Voglewede and children. . Mrs. Charles Voglewetie will leave Friday for an extended trip visaing her children. She will first visit her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Whelman and children, for 'several'days. Then she will travel to Mexico City, Mexico, to visit with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Voglewede and children.
