Special Need For Rural Ministers Combine Religious Studies, Farming WASHINGTON (INS) — The agriculture department’s No. 2 official says there is a special need for ministers trained for rural service and dedicated to serving churches in farming areas. Under secretary of agriculture True D. Morse made this assertion Tuesday night in an address before the national convocation on the church in town and country at Springfield, Mass. Morae reported a growing interest in such programs as that df the Bible College of Missouri where ministers are combining stu dies in the college of agriculture with religious education. The under secretary, who is also heading up the Eisenhower administration’s program to assist lowincome farmers, said economically backward farming areas are especially in need of stronger churches and more able ministers. As he has pointed out many times before, Morse said there are about one and one-half million farm families with incomes of less than SI,OOO a year. He added: “About one-half of the young people from these areas eventually are employed in and help give leadership to our cities and industrial centers."
