HARRIET'GERBER TO WED KEWNETH DARMOUR ■Mr. and Mrs. Edgar H. Gerber of route one, Decatur, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their youngest daughter, Harriet, to Kenneth L. Darmonr, son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. DarmoUr of Cleveland, Ohio. The bride-elect attended Heidelberg College and her fiance is a graduate of Heidelberg. He la now employed with Trane company in LaCrosse, Wis. The marriage will be solemnized in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church November 5, with the Rev. William C. Feller and the' uncle of the bride-elect, the Rev. Q. Kenneth Shafer, officiating. HOAGLAND SENIORS TO PRESENT PLAY October 21 and 22, the senior class of Hoagland high school will present a play entitled “A Pair of Country Kids.” The play is about a pair of country children who outwit a group of eity slickers. Mary Krauss and Lyle Stults play the roles of the country children and other members of the class include Shirley Koeneman, Ruth Bultemeler, Judy Diemer, Jeanette Diemer, Larry Smith, Denny Stoppenhagen, Ron Hoile and Gordon Peafbody. FARM BUREAU MEETING IS HELD RECENTLY The recent meeting of the Preble township Farm Bureau was held at the Friedheim school with group singing ind devotions, led by Mrs. Irvin Worthman, opening the meeting. A solo “The Bible Tells Me So," was sung by Miss Joann Stepler, Fire and safety rules and a poem entitled “The Corn Picker,” Coming October 21 and 22. Forrest Tucker, of the Farm Bureau co-op, spoke to the group on “What the Fann Bureau is Doing.” Mrs. Arthur Koeneman gave a report on the district meeting, which was held October 11 in Wells county. Results of the election of officers were: chairman,'lrvin Worthman; vice - chairman, Theodore Ewell; S. and E. leader, Mrs. Arthur Bauermeister; assistant S. and E. leader, Mrs. Irvin Worthman; secretary and treasure, Delmar Heckman; news reporter, Mrs. Erwin Schuller; pet and hobby, Mrs. Arthur Koeneman. At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served to 15 adults, and eight children, by Mr. and Mrs. Verne Linker and Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Heckman. 4> PRESENT FOR CHURCH MOTHER S CLUB MEETING The Zion Evangelical and Reformed ehureh was the scene of a recent meeting held by the Church Mother’s study club. The program included entertaining of the Berne club with 25 of their members present. The meeting was opened by the group singing the club song..followed by devotions led by, Mrs. Virgil Sex.on. Mrs. Beryl Smith presented a book review on “Wings on Her Petticoat," The program was closed with the club prayer. . Refreshments were served to the 47 members present, including five new members. Hostesses for the evening included Martha Uhrick, Beulah Parrish, Fern Dierkes, Edith Walters, and Mrs. Winston Rawley. Girl Scout troop one will meet at the Youth and Community Center Thursday evening from 4 until 5 o'clock. The group will decide on a definite night to meet and it is important that the registration money be turned in.

Carol Baumgartner Is Married Sunday In Church Ceremony Miss Carol Ann Baumgartner and Vernan Dead Seitz were united in marriage Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the First Baptist church, with the Rev. Stuart Brightwell officiating for the double-ring ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Baumgartner are the parents of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Harland O. Burgett are the parents of the bridegroom. ... Thjj aisle was laid with a white carpet and the church was adorned with magnolia foliage, yellow glads and yellow and brown chrysanthemums. * Mrs. C. E. Bell was the organist and Mrs. Richard Evans, vocalist, sang “I Love You Truly,” '“Through the Years,” and “The Lord's Prayer.” The Bride’s Attire The bride was lovely in a gown of nylon tulle and chantilly lace over white bridal satin. The fitted bodice of lace over satin, featured an open modified square neckline. Her sheer sleeves of lace were long and fitted, forming points over the hands. The full gathered bouffant ballerina skirt of satin, was overlaid with nylon net and topped wih. nylon tulle. A peplum of lace beautified the skirt. For her headpiece, she wore a tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones to which was caught her veil. She carried a Bible topped with an orchid. The. matron-of-Tronor was Mrs Donald Jacobs, who wore a ballerina length gown of yellow chiffon, fashioned with a draped neckline and a bouffant skirt. She carried a bouquet of yellow and bronze mums. \ ‘ . lionaid Chronister attended as best man and ushers weie Donald Jacobs and Richard Evans. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Baumgartner wore: a Charcoal brown dress with brown accessories. Mrs. -Burgett was attired in a charcoal black dress with white accessories. Both wore corsages of talesman roses. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors, with approximately 150 guests present. Serveis included Mrs. William Reichert, Jr., Miss Barbara. Walters, Miss Lois Strahm, and Miss Carol Sue Seitz. For traveling, the bride chose a beige suit with brow n accessories. Following a twa week’s honeymoon, the couple will reside at 503*A Ihdiana street in DecaturMis. Seitz is a graduate of Decatur high school and is employed at th'Q First State Bank in this city. Sunday, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Carlton Embler of Decatur, weighing seven pounds and seven ounces. -I ,f • Held In Valparaiso For Berne Burglary Sheriff Merle Affolder and state., police detective Truman Bierie* , went to Valparaiso today to con- : tinue investigation of the break-in at Poplar drive-in north of Berne , Saturday morning. A witness who discovered the burglar in the drive-in was able to give information leading to tentative identification of a man in Valparaiso. The witness was taken to the city by Affolder and Beirie. Traced by personal description and the car used by the burglar, the man is being held 7 at Valparaiso.
