i The citizenship lof Adams counity, the state of 'lndiana, and the i United States. Iw a s increased last week when 'five residents of [Adams county I were naturalized in the Adams cir[cuit court. The
senior avvuiupauivu uy xu*. Rosier, was privileged to attend this joyous, yet solemn, occasion. Too few of us truly appreciate the rights and privileges which we hold as natural born citizens. However, a ritual such as this makes us very aware of our good fortune. The- senior class would like to thank everyone who made this experience possible and hope that other court proceedings may be at; tended throughout the year. — M. H. S. — Six pupils were made very happy last Friday when it was announced that they had been chosen as the basketball cheerleaders for the coming season. Sharon Schuller, Norman Davis, and Karen Schaefer will lead cheers for the varsity; and Claudia Caston. Marilyn Reinking, and Kay Bultemeyer will back the second team. Congratulations, kids! - M. H. S. - M. 11. S. would also like to extend congratulations to the losers for giving such a splendid performance. and for accepting defeat so graciously. — M. H. 8. — All Monmouth high school students. parents, fans, and players are invited to attend a basketball clinic Friday. October 21, in the school gymnasium. Changes in ruling and new rules will be discussed for the benefit of the players and the spectators. Many misunderstandings at games may be clarified. — M. H. S. — The talk of all Monmouth is the dance tomorrow night sponsored by "the senior class. It w’ill be held at Reitdorf’s Barn, and music will be furnished by the “Mudslingers." Admission is 50 cents per person, and dancing will be from 8:30 to 12. So—“ Put your glad rags on and cpme along." —M. H. 8. - Who said girls were frail and fragile? Not at M. H. 8. The physical education instructor. Mrs. Kleinhenz, with the help of many athletic girls, is organizing both a table tennis and a horseshoe tournament to be held during noon hour. Several new tennis tables have recently been added to the recreational facilities, and outdoor horseshoe equipment is being increased. In past years these sports have been very popular with the boys, but this is the first year that the girls haven taken a great interest. </ — M. H. S. — SwisK! Pop! Splash! Ping! Those are the sounds that will resound from the gym Friday. October 28, as the P. T A. sponsors its annual fall festival. Earl Caston and Norva'l Fuhrman, co-chairmen of the event, along with their various committees have planned a fish pond, .ping-pong bqll and target game, balloon darts, basketball pitch, movies, bingo, and a cake walk for tun, and a country store
and a luncheon stand for food. There will also be a stand tor home-baked products. The public is invited to attend. — M. H. S. — Last week the- sophomore girls ordered their class sweaters, and the boys ordered their jackets. In a few weeks the halls will be flashing with traditional gold and black or increasingly popular white. — M. H. S. — Clothes pins were expensive last Tuesday when a certain home economics class worked on the finearts of fish cookery. The halls w-ere worse than a Nantucket fish market, but the class didn’t seem to mind. The favorite turned out to be lobster salad, and as for French friend oysters—well anyway. we liked the lobster salad!
