Decatur Woman’s Club Will Hold Formal Opening At New Center Monday, Oct 17 The Decatur Youth and Community Center will be the stage for the formal opening of the tall and winter season of the Decatur Woman’s club Monday evening, Oct. 17. Preceding Che three-course banquet, the music section, directed by Miss Helen Haubold. will sing the club prayer. Mrs. Roy Kalver, president of the Decatur Woman'B club, will preside following the dinner, and will present Mrs. Henry Humphrey, of Osgood, state president of the Indiana Federated Clubs; Mrs. Henry L. Smith, second vice president, IFC, and Mrs. Leo Curtis, of Hammond, junior director, IFC. ” •
The Fort Wayne Civic Theater players, under the direction of Theodore Siger, will provide the entertainment. Siger will be introduced by the program chairman. Mrs. Arthur Holt house. Fort Wayne Woman’s club and a prominent member of the American association of university women. The traditional Christmas. program, Dec. 12. will be given by the Music department at the Zion Evangelical and Refornfed church. The Junior women will present a singing group from North Side high school, Fort Wayne, Jan. 16. A program of civic interest will be furnished Feb. 13 under the auspices of the Civic department. Junior arts will provide a unique program March 12. “Artists on a pile of rock” will be the subject of C. W. Kent, who will be the speaker for the .Art department. The Joint Federation program is scheduled for April 16, and a play dramatization May 7, in charge of the Dramatic department. will climax the club year. Chairmen of the program committees are Mrs. Harry D. Dailey, Mrs. Herman Krueckeberg, Mrs. Virgil W. Sexton, Mrs. Lowell Smith. Miss Glennys Roop. Mrs. Robert Boch and Miss Janet Lane. GARDEN CLUB FILM TO BE PRESENTED FRIDAY EVENING The council of the Fort Wayne Garden clubs is bringing Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Maffitt, and their nature movie in full color, “Sanctuary Haven Hill,” to Concordia College gym, on Friday evening, October 14, at 8 o'clock. This movie •was shown at the state convention of Garden clubs of Indiana, also at the Chicago ornithological society, and is booked for the Chicago museum this winter. The film portrays wild life in the area of the Dunes, home of Mr. and Mrs. Maffitt. Tickets are available from any member of the Garden club affiliated with the council or may be purchased at the door Adult tickets are 75 cents and grade school children, 40 cents. Members of the Decatur Garden club are invited to attend this movie. OCTOBER MEETING IS HELD BY CHURCH GROUP RECENTLY The meeting of the Women’s guild of the Salem E. and R. church was opene'd with Miss Amanda Worthman “leading the group in singing hymna. Mrs. James Meyers read the scripture, followed by a sung by Mrs. Meyefs and Mrs.Raymond 'Koller. The c Setflage led the group in prayer. Walter Kruetzman presented the lesson, “Christians on the Job.” Mrs. Walter Egly gave a talk on the United Nations and sang a vocal solo. Mrs. James Meyers then? offered prayer. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Walter Kruetzman, Mrs. Walter Egly, Miss Amanda Worthman, Mrs. Martha Dettiirger, Mrs. Walter. Reppert, Mrs. James Meyers, and Miss Anna Helmrich. Ml SS IO N A R Y SOCIEJY HOLDS RECENT MEETING The Women's society of the Church of God met recently in the fellowship basement with Fayma Geyer in charge of devotions. Mildred Baker gave the lesson on “Amerioan Indians.” Veda Mitchell told of some of her experiences on a trip through the Indian country. She also gav£ a report on the missionary convention which was held in Fort Wayne. A business meeting was held and refreshments were served to the 22 lumbers and one guest present, by the, hostesses, Kathryn Strickler and Mabie Jean Hammond. SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY IS HELD FOR E. A. CRIDER A surprise birthday party was held recently by members of the V. I. S. class of the Trinity E. U. B. church, for their teacher, E. A. Crider. Games were played and refreshments served. Phyllis Schnepp Wed Saturday To Lee Evan Bryant At 6:30 o’clock Saturday evening, Miss Phyllis Jean Schnepp became the bride of Lee Evan Bryant, in the Friedheim Lutheran church, with the Rev. A. A. Fenner officiating for the double-ring ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schnepp of route one, Ossian, are the parents of the bride, and parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bryant of route one, Ossian. E. Kalthoff, organist, and' Miss Evelyn Nyffler, vocalist, presented the musicale before the ceremony. Miss Schnepp chose a waltz, length gown of wnite appliqued lace over satin with a bateau neck- ( line and long lace sleeves forming points over her hands. Her fingertip veil of illusion was held by a lace crown and she carried a bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid. Officers will meet at 7:30 o'clock. The Pythian Sisters Needle club will meet tonight after Temple at the K. of P. home. A rummage sale will be held in the Presbyterian church basement Friday from 1 until 4 o’clock and Saturday from 9 until 3 o’clock. Winter clothing, shoes, and bedding will be sold — The Holy Family study club will meet with Mrs. Russell Schooler Thursday evening at 8:30 o'clock. At 8 o’clock Wednesday evening, the Lady of Lout des study club will meet St the home of Mrs. Mary Ann Selking. The matron-of-honor wore a waltz length gown of blue taffeta with a long torso and fashioned with a V neckline. She carried an' arangemertt of yellow mums. The bridesmaids were dressed the same as the matron-of-hon-or in copper colored gowns. Ross Bryant, brother of the bridegroom served as best mand and ushers were Merlin Dettmar and Ralph Bauermeteter. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Schnepp chose a teal blue dress with matching accessories and a dark orchid corsage. The bridegroom’s mother wore a dark graydress with matching, accessories a dark orchid corsage. The church hall was the scene of the reception held immediately following the ceremosy. Servers included Mrs. Kenneth Baeske and Mrs. James Crosby, the Misses Al,berta Dettmer, Norma Jean Springer, and Bonnie Lee. The bride chose a charcoal wool dress with red accessories for her wedding trip. The new Mrs. Clouse is a graduate of Pleasant Mills high school.
