GOP Chairman Signs Contract For Convention 1956 Conviction To Be Held In 'Frisco Opening August 20 WASHINGTON (INS) — Republican national chairman Leonard W. Hall said today the (GOP convention definitely will go on as scheduled next Aug. 20 in the Cow Palace at San Francisco. Hall said he signed the contract today for the Cow Palace and made the announcement immediately as '‘complete answer to false statements” by Democrats that the GOP convention would be held earlier and possibly in Chicago, j He added: "In my opinion, there will never be an early convention form here on in. iWth the modern media of communications, it’s going to be tough to sustain a campaign tor even six or seven weeks." Asked if he would speculate an possible Republican candidates in view of President Eisenhower s illness, Hall said it would be improper for "him to <io so. Russia Seeking To Expand Conference Wants Discussion Os *Far Eastern Topics UNITED NATIONS. N. Y. (INS) —Russia stepped up today its drive to expand the Oct. 27 Big Four conference at Geneva to include broad Far Eastern topics. It called for re-establishment of economic ties between North and South Korea. Soviet delegate P. N. Kumykin joined the chorus of Soviet and Asian spokesmen seeking Big Four consideration of east Asian problems by declaring in the UN economic committee that renewal of economic links between the two Koreas will speed reconstruction of the war-ravaged peninsula. followed by 24 hours a disclosure by Indian diplomat V. K. Krishna Menon that Red China would agree to “internationally supervised’"’ elections throughout Korea. UN observers viewed Menon's statement before the assembly as a “trial balloon” aimed at splitting western policy in Asia and part of the Soviet effort to include Red China. Formosa and Korea on the agenda of the Big Four foreign ministers meeting in Geneva. Revival Services At Mt. Tabor Church 9 Revival services will begin at the Mt. Tabor Methodist church at Bobo next Sunday with services Sunday night and every night next week at 7:30 o'clock. The Rev. A. M. Christie, pastor of the Preble circut, Methodist churches, will be the evangelist. All members and friends of the church are invited to attend, according to the announcement by the pastor, the Rev. Edgar Johnston. Adopt Resolution For Foundation The national convention of the Moose lodge, held recently at Philadelphia, unanimously adopted a resolution for establishment of a national foundation for the study of mental hygiene. The resolution called for the establishment “of a functional foundation. similar or comparable to the National Foundation for Ipfantile Paralysis. Its purpose shall be the shedding of light on the problems of mental disease, its causes and cures.” Margarine Output Is Below Last Year WASHINGTON (INS) — The ’national association of margarine manufacturers reports that output of its product increased 15 percent from July to August but is running behind last year's rate. The actual figure for August was 01.592,000 ponds as compared with 105.344.0ft0 pounds in the same month, last year.
